Poor Piers.
A petition was started yesterday at the White House website to deport British citizen Piers Morgan for his assault on the Second Amendment of the US Constitution. The petition has over 12,000 signatures already.

But Piers is not amused.
He tweeted this out earlier.

Piers, who has repeatedly attacked the NRA and members of the gun lobby, can dish it out but can't take it.
Typical leftist.

More than 48,000 people have signed a petition that they posted on the White House website demanding that British CNN talk show host Piers Morgan be deported over comments he made on air about gun control.

Morgan last week lambasted pro-gun guests on his show, after the December 14 mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, where a gunman shot dead 26 people, including 20 children.

"We demand that Mr. Morgan be deported immediately for his effort to undermine the Bill of Rights and for exploiting his position as a national network television host to stage attacks against the rights of American citizens," the petition said.

The petition, started on December 21 by a man identified as Kurt N. from Austin, Texas, accuses Morgan of subverting the second amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which guarantees the right to bear arms.

U.S. citizens can file a petition on the White House website, whitehouse.gov, if they collect at least 25,000 signatures within 30 days. The White House is then obliged to issue a response.

Morgan, 47, a former newspaper editor in London, shot back at his critics on Twitter. He repeated his past calls for the United States to ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines and conduct background checks on all gun purchases.

Five days after the Connecticut massacre, Morgan called a guest, Larry Pratt, executive director of Gun Owners for America, an "idiot," "dangerous" and an "unbelievably stupid man" when Pratt argued that more guns were needed to combat crime in the United States.

"I don't care about a petition to deport me. I do care about poor NY firefighters murdered/injured with an assault weapon today. #GunControlNow," Morgan tweeted on Monday, referring to a shooting in New York that killed three people, including the gunman.

Christa Robinson, a CNN spokeswoman, said the network had no immediate comment on the petition.

On NPR the other day, there was an interview with some guy in Montana.  He was going to sign the petition, but in addition to accusing Morgan, he went after Fareed Zakaria.  He mangled his name, but knew that here was another foreign loon trying to tell us how to run our country, part of that 'one world order/ united nations' crowd.  What is it with these conspiracy zealots?  The xenophobia that gets expressed so frequently by a certain element in America is disturbing.  Every country has these... just look at the nationalism in Japan or Germany.  But, whereas in the rest of the world they are marginalized.  in America, we give these fringe groups legitimacy through outlets like MSNBC and its ideological loons.

Gun politics aside,  I read where Piers Morgan's talk show ratings dropped to the worst levels the network has seen in at least 21 years this past summer.  I've seen his show, those 65,000 viewer figures are well deserved.  While he may prop it up for a while with controversy, the problem with Mr. Morgan is... at his core... he's a typical British news clown.  The snotty, backhanded treatment of British press isn't going to sell in American livingrooms.  He should be deported back to the British press... his arrogant anal personality doesn't belong here.  CNN should fire him.... and they probably will, eventually... because imho his show sucks big time.

The British Petition Gov't: We Don't Want Piers Morgan Back!

By Gregory Gwyn-Williams, Jr.
December 26, 2012

The British have responded to a petition calling for the deportation from the United States of CNN host Piers Morgan with one of their own:  "Stop Piers Morgan from being deported back to the UK from America."

The counter-petition, addressed to Theresa May, Home Secretary, is a direct response to the 70,000 Americans who have signed a petition calling for Mr. Morgan to be deported from the United States because of his strong gun-control views.

The UK petition, posted on change.org reads as follows:

"We got rid of him [Piers Morgan] once and why should we have to suffer again. The Americans wanted him, so they should put up with him. We washed our hands of him a long time ago."

Infowars.com reports that British television personality Jeremy Clarkson has also weighed in on the controversy, tweeting:

"Americans. It took us 40 years to get rid of Piers Morgan. Please don't send him back."

Morgan has always been an advocate of stricter gun laws but since the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, Conn., the debate over the 2nd Amendment has heated up, along with the host's rhetoric.

On his Dec. 18 show, "Piers Morgan Tonight," CNN's Piers Morgan berated and insulted guest Larry Pratt, the executive director of Gun Owners of America.  In his criticism of Pratt and Pratt's defense of the 2nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, Morgan said, among other things, "You are talking complete and utter nonsense. ... You're an unbelievable stupid man, aren't you? ... You are a dangerous man espousing dangerous nonsense. You shame your country."

CNN host Piers Morgan could join the late-night crowd.

The slumping cable news network is considering moving his hour-long interview show from the prized 9 p.m. slot back to 10 p.m. — or even later, The NY Post has learned.

While sources said no decisions have been made, incoming CNN chief Jeff Zucker and his new bosses at Time Warner are focused on boosting ratings in the primetime hours from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

One source said Zucker may look to carve out a role for Morgan when his three-year, $8 million contract expires next year. In 2010, the British journalist was hired to replace the retiring Larry King and help win back viewers from rivals.

"They will keep Piers. He'll be the kind of person Zucker will want to keep. They are not interested in doing a total cleaning of house," said one exec familiar with the discussions.

CNN, which is lagging behind Fox and MSNBC in the ratings, is also looking to stop showing repeats of Anderson Cooper's news show. The network has been airing "AC360" at 8 p.m. and again at 10 p.m. after the cancellation of Eliot Spitzer's show more than a year ago.

(News Corp. owns Fox and The NY Post.)

"As for Anderson Cooper, I'd expect he'd no longer keep the 8 p.m. slot and the 10 p.m. slot, and Piers Morgan would be moved out of 9 p.m.," said the executive.

Even before the arrival of Zucker, the network had been combing Hollywood talent agencies, touting the possibility of a late-night talk show.

CNN declined to comment. Morgan's agent, John Ferriter, didn't return calls.

A 10 p.m. slot would pit Morgan against Charlie Rose on Bloomberg TV. An even later slot at 11 p.m. would put him in competition with late-night hosts such as David Letterman, Jay Leno and Jimmy Kimmel.

From The Daily Caller, White House agrees to respond to deport Piers Morgan petition:

The White House announced their intent to respond to the White House petition to deport CNN host and anti-gun advocate Piers Morgan Monday night, Politico reported.

Shortly after Morgan's contentious interview with petition backer and radio host Alex Jones, the White House released a statement about the petition, which currently boasts over 106,000 signatures — far more than the 25,000 threshold needed for the White House to respond.

"The White House responds to all petitions that cross the threshold and we will respond to this one. In the meantime, it is worth remembering that the freedom of expression is a bedrock principle in our democracy," White House spokesman Jay Carney said in a statement reported by Politico.

The petition demands that Morgan, a British citizen, be deported for "attacking the Second Amendment."

"British Citizen and CNN television host Piers Morgan is engaged in a hostile attack against the U.S. Constitution by targeting the Second Amendment," the petition reads. "We demand that Mr. Morgan be deported immediately for his effort to undermine the Bill of Rights and for exploiting his position as a national network television host to stage attacks against the rights of American citizens."

From InfoWars, Alex Jones: I Made CNN Producer Cry:

Radio host Alex [Wild Man] Jones says his CNN confrontation with host Piers Morgan last night was so volatile that one of the producers of the show burst into tears during the commercial break.

According to Jones, the fact that the showdown became so out of control and off-script overwhelmed CNN staffers and sent them into a tailspin, including Piers Morgan Tonight producer Rachel Burstein, who began to shed tears.

Jones was supposed to appear in a third segment on the show to debate lawyer Alan Dershowitz, but CNN managers and Morgan himself were so outraged at his refusal to play ball that they changed the format of the whole program on a whim.

After the second segment, Morgan told Jones, "You're done," to which Jones responded by accusing Morgan of chickening out of the confrontation.

"We will defeat you," Jones told Morgan, to which Morgan responded by snickering.

Jones said he also confronted Dershowitz on his support for creating warrants that would allow police and security services to torture suspects, adding that Dershowitz was not interested in debating Jones.

Before he even arrived at CNN center in New York, Jones described how he and cameraman Rob Dew were being followed around by undercover police.

Piers Morgan Tonight Panel Laughs About Shooting Alex Jones

On his first show after his contentious interview with Alex Jones, the radio host advocating for his deportation, Piers Morgan laughed along with his panelists as they joked about shooting Jones.  The Daily Beast's Buzz Bissinger got things rolling: "I don't care what the justification is that you're allowed in this country to own a semi-automatic weapon, much less a handgun. But what do you need a semi-automatic weapon for? The only reason I think you'd need it is, Piers, challenge Alex Jones to a boxing match, show up with a semi-automatic that you got legally and pop him." Both Morgan and Abby Huntsman of The Huffington Post laughed and went on to joke about shooting Jones "in uniform."
