Jack E. Hale of Andover, Kansas was born August 5, 1932 in Anthony, Kansas to Gerald and Clarice Hale.  The family moved to Grenola, Kansas for a short time and on to Moline, Kansas where he grew up amidst summers spent with Hale grandparents at their cabin in Drury, Kansas on the Chikaskia River where his love for fishing and hunting grew.  Jack graduated from Moline High School where there he kept busy playing football, basketball, playing trumpet in the band, and singing in the choir.  He then went on to Wichita State University and later served in the Amy Corps of Engineers during the Korean Conflict.

In 1953 he married the love of his life, Connie Jo Carter, and they shortly welcomed their first born, S. Mark Hale in 1956.  Cyndee Sue followed in 1957, and finally Julie Kay in 1958.  While working as the credit manager at Innes (Macy's), Jack had his hands full with three little ones, going to school full time, and serving as the President of the Wichita Credit Bureau.  He was recruited by Price Brothers Equipment to be a comptroller in 1962 where he stayed until 1974 when he decided to go to refrigeration repair school to follow his dreams of owning his own business.

Shortly after retirement, Jack worked for his son, Mark, at Big Cheese Pizza in Andover where he came up with original flavors, mostly involving jalapenos.  He and Connie filled the rest of their days with camping, traveling, and enjoying the great outdoors.  Jack's most proud position was that of assistant leader for Boy Scouts of America, being active in his church, and being a proud father, grandfather, and loving and devoted husband.

Jack died in his home surrounded by his family on October 20, 2012. He is survived by his beloved wife, Connie; daughters, Cyndee Orr of North Platte, Nebraska and Julie Oles of Andover, Kansas; and his prized grandchildren, Rhonda Hale Warren of Wichita, Kansas, Brett Orr of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Karbi Hale of Wichita, Kansas, Ashlee Davidson of Lenexa, Kansas; Ethan Oles of Lubbock, Texas, and Madison Oles of Andover, Kansas.  Jack is preceded in death by his son, Mark Hale.
