Billy Charles "Bill" McKenzie, age 77, a resident of rural Piedmont, Kansas, passed away Saturday, September 22, 2012 at his home.  He was born on October 25, 1934 in Pampa, Texas, the son of Charles and Elease (Ives) McKenzie.

Bill worked as a printer for the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, New Mexico and later at Boeing in Wichita, Kansas.  He also farmed and raised livestock at his rural home south of Piedmont.  Bill was a member of the Flint Hills Assembly of God in Howard, Kansas and also a member of the NRA.  Bill was also known as a very good cook and for his wit and immeasurable patience with his grandchildren. 

On October 22, 1976, Bill was united in marriage to Aline Lilley Deniston in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and she survives at their home.

Bill is also survived by one son, Raymond McKenzie of Wichita, Kansas; three daughters, Sandra Tallent of Alexandria, Virginia, Ellen Ulrich of Denver, Colorado, and Amy Dent of Lumberton, North Carolina; four stepsons, Kevin Deniston of Scott City, Kansas, Jack Deniston of El Dorado, Kansas, Dan Deniston of Garden City, Kansas, and Scot Deniston of Neal, Kansas; one brother, Jerry McKenzie of Albuquerque, New Mexico; a half-sister, Charlene Milhon of Great Bend, Kansas; a step-sister, Birdie Harrell of La Pine, Oregon;  thirteen grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter, Emily Tallent.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at Countryside-Zimmerman Funeral Home in Howard, Kansas with Pastor Robin Haines officiating.,  Viewing will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, September 24, 2012 at the funeral home.  Interment will be held at Piedmont Cemetery in Piedmont, Kansas.  Family suggests contributions be made to the Flint Hills Assembly of God and may be left with the funeral home.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.countrysidefh.com.
