Warph, your revelations in this thread are truly a testament to the ignorance of the American sheeple.  They are truly getting the government that they deserve.

Progressives (a moniker born out of the socialist movement in America) have been methodically eroding the principles espoused in The Declaration of Independence since the early 1900s.  Their platforms of bigger government, 'central planning' & the socialist collective have permeated our systems of education, media, lawmaking & business regulation.

Moreover, by means of methodical & incremental indoctrination, the progressive platform has been foisted on generations of young people inside a government centered public education system.  This effort has produced an ever increasing number of Americans who are actually shortsighted enough to believe that assuming a label of 'moderate' somehow is a good thing.  Fools.  Even Jesus himself said He preferred hot or cold to lukewarm.  It is the prevalence of these moderate thinkers (thinkers being a tongue in cheek use of the word) that has resulted in a society that so highly values government promises of safety & security that they have facilitated the drastic erosion of individual sovereignty over the last century.

in addition, the numbers of self centered citizens who have been dumbed down by well meaning educators regarding the dramatic difference represented by the American Republic among forms of governance have swelled into the millions.  Many (if not most) of these folks couldn't be bothered to remain informed about politically centered events let alone get off their duffs to go and vote intelligently on occasion.

Therefore, between the determined progressive idealists, the mushy moderate fools & the uninformed masses of easily led sheeple, this country is now  run by a self indulgent class of power brokers (from the likes of Obama to our very own Liebau/Hendricks duo) who appear totally ignorant of the fact that their Marxist ideals & crony capitalism have historically failed to produce progress or widespread prosperity in every society where attempted.

America, for many generations, was exceptional.  An example to be envied.  A nation that produced greater prosperity, provided disproportionate charity & pulled the butts of more of its' neighbors out of the fires of tyranny than any other in history.  No longer!  We are in rapid decline.  Great societies can and do fall.  America is no exception.  Now content to acquiesce to the whims of foolish 'leaders', America by and large has squandered her inheritance.  And it isn't only seen in the big cities like Detroit, Los Angeles, or Chicago... it can be seen in even the smallest of communities like Elk County, Kansas.  It can be seen by anyone who cares to look.  The locally corrupting influences of The Progressive Movement (and of those who sit idle) are clearly seen.  As America, even our own little county, once prosperous, is in decline.

Keep posting, Warph, we need to see the results of our folly as progressive or moderate or uninvolved citizens.  This nation is getting the government it deserves.  Any experiment, when tainted ingredients are introduced, is destined to fail.  The great American experiment of a representative republic is no exception.

Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi indicated Thursday she would be all in for a Hillary Clinton presidential campaign.

In an interview on MSNBC's "Andrea Mitchell Reports," Pelosi, the first female [Nut-case] House speaker, said that Clinton's resume gives her the edge over other potential candidates.

Apropos of nothing, the last time Detroit had a Republican Mayor was 51 years ago.

When insurgents attacked the U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya, last fall, Col. George Bristol held a key post in the region. As commander of Joint Special Operations Task Force-Trans Sahara, he was in a position to know what options the U.S. had to protect Americans under fire.

U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans died in the Sept. 11 attacks, sparking national outcry and a congressional investigation examining the lack of protection. Several U.S. officials have testified before Congress since — but not Bristol, a salty Marine whose task force was responsible for special operations in northern and western Africa.

Defense Department officials have told members of Congress that Bristol cannot be forced to testify because he retired after stepping down during a March change of command ceremony, according to several media reports. The Pentagon reinforced that point of view to Marine Corps Times on Tuesday.

"Col. Bristol was not invited by Congress to testify before he retired," said Air Force Maj. Robert Firman, a spokesman with the Office of the Secretary of Defense. "The DoD has cooperated fully with Congress and the Accountability Review Board since the beginning of this investigation, and we will continue to do so."

That isn't the case, however. While Bristol is preparing for retirement, he is on active duty through the end of July, said Maj. Shawn Haney, a Marine spokeswoman, on Wednesday. He will be placed on the inactive list on Aug. 1, she said. That contradicts statements that Pentagon officials have issued to both Congress and the media.

Pentagon officials said Wednesday that they were looking into the case. The situation will likely frustrate congressional critics, primarily Republicans, who say the Obama administration has not been truthful about the Benghazi attack and the U.S. response to it...

House and Senate foes of President Obama's agenda on abortion, health care, immigration reform and global warming will be assailed during their summer recess as thousands in the president's support network will confront them during "Action August."

The president's Organizing for Action outfit, the successor to his 2012 reelection campaign network, has issued orders to supporters to track down lawmakers who disagree with the president. Their targets are lawmakers who are telling Obamacare "lies," those they dub "climate deniers" for resisting global warming rules, and foes of immigration reform and abortion.

"Their recess is our opportunity to speak with our elected officials directly about the issues we care about," said an OFA email.

Senator John McCain (R-Ariz.), a member of the "Gang of Eight" that helped write and pass the immigration reform bill in that chamber, said he did not know how many passports a person could forge under the proposed law before being charged with a crime.

On Capitol Hill on Wednesday, CNSNews.com asked McCain, "Senator McCain, can I ask you a question about the Senate immigration bill? Under the bill, how many passports can someone forge before it becomes a crime?"

McCain said,  "You're going to have to ask our folks that, I don't think that we stand for any forgeries."

CNSNews.com followed-up, "Can you tell me why that would be part of the bill in the first place?"

McCain answered, " I cannot tell you that it is part of the bill."

In the legislation that passed in the Senate, Section 1541 "Trafficking in Passports," it explains in detail that a person can be charged for a crime if they forge "3 or more passports," meaning that they potentially would not be charged if they falsely made only one or two passports. The criminal charges and penalties do not kick in until after "3 or more passports" are falsely made, issued, or transferred, etcetera.

As Obamacare was being pushed through Congress in 2010, the Obama administration and its allies were unequivocal in two claims: If you like your doctor and you like your current health care plan, you can keep them both.  HHS Secretary Kathleen Sibelius and then-House speaker Nancy Pelosi backed the president fully in this regard.

The White House even went so far as to post a "Health Insurance Reform Reality Check" on its website, where "Linda Douglass of the White House Office of Health Reform debunks the myth that reform will force you out of your current insurance plan or force you to change doctors."  President Obama upped the ante, putting the promise in the form of a "guarantee":

THE PRESIDENT: Here is a guarantee that I've made. If you have insurance that you like, then you will be able to keep that insurance. If you've got a doctor that you like, you will be able to keep your doctor. Nobody is trying to change what works in the system. We are trying to change what doesn't work in the system.

While there has been sniping back and forth between the administration and its detractors about the real-world application and implementation of Obamacare, the new Healthcare.gov website has taken some of the mystery out of the controversy.  And President Obama and his administration do not fare well in this latest "reality check."  Among the questions that HHS recently added to the website: "Can I keep my own doctor?":

"Depending on the plan you choose in the Marketplace, you may be able to keep your current doctor."  The bottom line is that Obamacare guarantees neither. Doctors may be only available through certain networks, just as in the current system.  And only plans that existed in their current form on March 23, 2010, are even eligible to be "kept." The vast majority of plans will be new, subject to a raft of new regulations, requirements, and restrictions.

The Taliban and its allies are plotting a bloody and spectacular end to the U.S. involvement in Afghanistan.

Foreign fighters are pouring into the eastern part of the country to take on U.S. and allied forces in what will likely be the final fighting season for American troops here.

Pakistani-based terror groups like the Haqqani Network and others are calling upon "every house, every family" to send fighters into Afghanistan, Afghan army commanders stationed at the American base in Paktia province told The Hill.

"The madrassas are emptying" in Pakistan, added Lt. Col. David Hamann, who leads the American Security Force Assistance Advisory Team (SFAAT) at Combat Outpost Matun Hill.

The influx of foreign insurgents ahead of the White House's 2014 troop withdrawal deadline comes just as the administration is facing mounting public pressure to end the war quickly.

The administration is struggling to decide whether to leave any troops behind after 2014, and has revived the "zero option" postwar plan that would leave no troops in the country post-2014.
