Interesting essay!

I can't help to quote a portion that explains how I feel about some that have college educations. Pardon me.
"Unfortunately, the characteristics of the spoiled child do not vanish with childhood or even with adolescence. A university training does not necessarily transform petulance into ripe wisdom. Literary ability may only give fluent expression to a peevish spirit."

I have been trying to express something of this order and not quite able at least not in such a sensible way.
A college education in the field of medicine or engineering does not provide an education in common sense as related to debt or respect for other peoples money.

I am enjoying this mans essay and would recommend it to anyone else.

Thanks Warph.

Glad you enjoyed it... you're probably the only one that read it... LOL.

The best example of common sense going awry:

When NASA first started sending up astronauts, they quickly discovered that ballpoint pens would not work in zero gravity.  To combat the problem, NASA scientists spent a decade and $12 billion to develop a pen that writes in zero gravity, upside down, underwater, on almost any surface including glass and at temperatures ranging from below freezing to 300°C.

Embarrassment! Even Charlie Rangel Is Mocking Obama

http://www.newsmax.com/Newsfront/rangel-obama-syria-embarrassing/2013/09/03/id/523548#ixzz2dsukCdml

President Barack Obama's handling of the Syria crisis has proved "embarrassing," Rep. Charles Rangel, a staunch Democratic supporter of Obama, told MSNBC Monday.

The president's declaration last year that the use of chemical weapons by the Damascus regime would cross a "red line" was "unheard of" the veteran New York Democrat said.

"I love Obama and you'll never find a truer Democrat than me," Rangel said. "But this whole idea of any president of the United States drawing lines saying that if any country does something that he considers wrong, that the nation is going to war, it's unheard of, drawing a red line," Rangel said.

"So, of course, it's embarrassing."

Rangel said he was glad the president reviewed the situation and that broader discussions will occur. Obama submitted a resolution to Congress Saturday to use force in Syria, and the House will take that up the issue after returning from break Sept. 9.

On CNN, Rangel, who has served in the House for 42 years, vehemently opposed the idea of going to war with Syria when so many questions are unanswered.

"There's absolutely no question I would vote no because there's so many questions," he said. "One of them is, is this a war? And if it's not a war, if it's a limited war, I never heard of anything in my entire life. If you're going to fire shells and bomb a community, that's war, and you have to have a declaration of war, and the Congress should legally, constitutionally approve it and I haven't seen that evidence."

Interview from 2008 - Especially in politics it is of the utmost importance to try to look behind the facade: who makes up the team of the presidential candidate? The future president of the United States of America is for a large part dependent on and being fed by his team of advisors and future cabinet members. Webster Tarpley wrote a book on the men and women behind presidential hopeful Barack Obama. He argues that there is more to Obama than his charismatic appearance and that some of his advisors pose a danger to the US and the world in case Obama might be elected to become the next US president. This interview was from 2008. Amazing how well he predicted what was to come and what we are in the midst of.

September 2013 Breaking News Mounting evidence suggests Israeli strike on Iran approaching - Last Days End Times News Prophecy Update

Sunday August 5th 2013 Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dempsey arrives in Israel to Talk About Israel plans for preemptive strike on Iran's nuclear sites.
Dempsey America's top military officer and his Israeli counterpart Maj. Gen. Benny Gantz will discuss boosting military cooperation between Israel and the United States.

General Dempsey is also scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Minister for Military Affairs Moshe Ya'alon to discuss Iran's nuclear program and an Israeli announcement that it might mount a unilateral military strike on Iran's enrichment facilities, Israeli daily Yedioth Aharonoth reports.

Denver Post-Denver, Colorado) -- Evidence is mounting that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is increasingly prepared to order a massive preemptive strike on Iran's nuclear sites.
Here's why: Iran aggressively pursuing two routes to nuclear weaponry, one via uranium enrichment, the other via plutonium. Thus, Iran is steadily approaching the "red line," the point at which Netanyahu has said Israel would have no choice but to strike. Officials in Jerusalem do not see the Obama administration taking decisive action to prevent Iran from getting The Bomb. To the contrary, Israel sees President Obama and Secretary John Kerry weakening their resolve and opening the door to indefinite negotiations with the new Rouhani administration, which they perceive as "moderate." Israeli military leaders believe they have the operational capabilities to destroy -- or at least seriously damage -- Iran's nuclear program, but they have a shortening window of time, after which the task would be beyond Israel's capabilities.

July 15th, senior Israeli officials at the highest levels stating that Iran was dangerously close to the "red line" and that they were ready to go to war, but that they were waiting for any signs that the West -- and specifically the U.S. -- were going to take meaningful action.

However, not only has President Obama refused to take such action, his administration is going in the opposite direction. The White House is resisting tougher economic sanctions. It is lauding the emergence of a "moderate" like Hassan Rouhani as Iran's new president. It is offering an olive branch to Rouhani, actively opening the door to many more months of diplomatic negotiations. It is doing so even though the Ayatollah Khamenei -- the true power in Iran -- has shown no sign he is willing to back down from pursuing The Bomb, and even though Rouhani's claim to fame was that as Iran's chief nuclear negotiator, he fooled the world into believing that Iran was not advancing its nuclear program from 2003 to 2005 when the truth was Iran was, in fact, aggressively building its nuclear capacities.

"We are ready to engage in serious and substantial talks without wasting time," Rouhani said Wednesday, urging the West to focus on "talks, not threats."

Netanyahu, however, is not buying it. He is making the case that only intense and immediate pressure -- much harsher economic sanctions, plus clear evidence of a serious and looming military option -- has even the remotest hope of persuading Iran that the time for diplomatic games is over.

Consider the latest news stories that are relevant to this analysis:

Official: Israel capable of unilateral strike on Iran, if US not committed (Jerusalem Post)

Key excerpts: Israel is capable of carrying out a unilateral military strike against Iran's nuclear facilities without operational support from the United States, a senior Israeli official said...on Tuesday morning. Although, such a strike would render less effective than one conducted by America, the unidentified official said.... The diplomatic official doubted US intentions to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons at all costs. American conduct regarding Syria, contrary to declarations by President Barack Obama, shows Israel that it cannot rely on US assurances, the Israeli source said. Israel fears the development of direct negotiations between Washington and Tehran would ease sanctions on the Islamic Republic in exchange for concessions, and would not satisfy the requirements imposed by Israel, the unnamed official added. Jerusalem and Washington differed on Sunday over the significance of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani's inauguration, with Washington ready to work with Iran and Jerusalem warning that the new regime -- like the old -- is a threat to world peace."

Latino Group Outraged Not Enough Hispanics
Are Getting Their Free Obamaphones-Latino Group Wants to Expand Fraud-Ridden 'Obamaphone' Program

The real problem with the Lifeline Program that provides free cell phones – commonly known as "Obamaphones" – to low-income individuals is not that it's been abused, but that not enough low-income Latinos are using the subsidized phones, according to The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC).

"Probably about 30 to 35 percent of the people who qualify for Lifeline would be Latino, and yet only about 15 percent of the users of Lifeline are Latino," Brent Wilkes, executive director of LULAC, said in a conference call Wednesday.

When CNSNews asked for a comment on documented reports of fraud and abuse in the "Obamaphone" system, he replied, "From our perspective, it's not that there's too much use, it's actually too little."

NPR Reminds Us: 'Some' Think That 'God Bless America'
Is a Truly Awful Scoop of 'Syrupy Nationalism'

(It's almost like liberals don't love America... what do you think, Forum)

Celine Dion
Via Newsbusters:

On Monday night's All Things Considered, NPR interviewed Sheryl Kaskowitz,  the author of a new book on the "iconic" song "God Bless America."

While NPR has no trouble excluding conservative views from their programs, the taxpayer-funded radio playground always enjoys highlighting the unpatriotic view, namely, that Woody Guthrie thought it was "a whitewash of everything wrong in America" and that some people (NPR listeners, surely) felt it was a "tune of syrupy nationalism and trivialized faith."

The song's story sounds interesting. Anchor Robert Siegel declared the song "has not only endured, it has become a statement of patriotism, of home-front support for troops at war. In the Vietnam era, it was an anthem of counter-protest. And while it has brought a lump to the throat of many an American, it has also annoyed many who hear it as a tune of syrupy nationalism and trivialized faith." The song was originally composed in 1918, then reworked for Kate Smith in 1938:

ROBERT SIEGEL: In the original lyric, the singer beseeches God to stand beside her and guide her to the right with a light from above, not through the night with a light from above. That had changed by 1938.

SHERYL KASKOWITZ: Yes, that's right. In 1938, that sense of something being guided to the right had an association with fascism.
