Obuma wanted Lois Lerner to "Fix it now before the election"

A new video shows Lois Lerner talking about the pressure being brought to bear on the IRS to halt GOP money going into the 2010 election:

Newly uncovered video shows Lois Lerner discussing the political pressure that swirled around the IRS in 2010. Lerner says "everyone" was "screaming at" the IRS to stop the flood of money pouring into the 2010 elections through 501(c)(4) groups as a result of Citizens United.

Lerner spoke to a small group at Duke's Sanford School of Public Policy on October 19, 2010, just two weeks before the wave election that brought the Tea Party and Republicans significant gains in Congress. During her appearance Lerner was asked about the flow of money from corporations to 501(c)(4) groups. "Everyone is up in arms because they don't like it" Lerner replied, adding "Federal Election Commission can't do anything about it; they want the IRS to fix the problem."

Lerner goes on to outline the fact that 501(c)(4) organizations have the right to do "an ad that says vote for Joe Blow" so long as their primary activity is social welfare. However Lerner again emphasizes the political pressure the IRS was under at the time saying, "So everybody is screaming at us right now 'Fix it now before the election. Can't you see how much these people are spending?'" Lerner concludes by saying she won't know if organizations have gone too far in campaigning until she looks at their "990s next year."

So Lerner put a roadblock in front of all Tea Party organizations:

More significantly, IRS data shows that 100 percent of Tea Party applications were scrutinized and that almost no applications were approved for a period of two years. Most were finally cleared in mid 2012 after a letter from Congress inquiring about the hold up finally led to a flurry of approvals.

The FBI hasn't contacted any of the targeted Tea Party groups, the Director of the FBI doesn't know who's in charge and the IRS has stopped cooperating.

*Obama promised a full inquiry into the matter

*Barack Obama has delivered his first public response to allegations that the Internal Revenue Service targeted conservative groups for extra tax scrutiny, describing it as outrageous and promising a thorough inquiry.

*Obama, at a joint press conference with British prime minister David Cameron at the White House, said: "I have no patience with it. I will not tolerate it and we will make sure we find out exactly what happened on this."

*But now it's a phony scandal [according to POS Obuma].

A Fox News poll released Thursday revealed that a majority of Republican and Democratic voters alike strongly disagree with the Obama administration's dismissal of the scandals plaguing Washington as "phony," with 78 percent of respondents answering that the administration's handling of the deadly attack is a serious matter.

Over 60 percent of respondents believe the administration is trying to cover up what happened the night of the assault, which left U.S. ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans dead, with 67 percent agreeing that President Barack Obama should have been personally involved in White House deliberations regarding the attack.

The poll's breakdowns, however, reveal a few partisan and racial divides: Half the Democrats and 57 percent of black respondents polled believe that the administration is being open and transparent about its handling of the attack. But 88 percent of Republicans and 68 percent white respondents suspect the government is involved in a cover-up.

Obuma's List Of Phoney Scandals

***Article 2 Of The Constitution Of The United States***

The executive Power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America. He shall hold his Office during the Term of four Years, and, together with the Vice President, chosen for the same Term, be elected, as follows:

Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors, equal to the whole Number of Senators and Representatives to which the State may be entitled in the Congress: but no Senator or Representative, or Person holding an Office of Trust or Profit under the United States, shall be appointed an Elector.

The Electors shall meet in their respective States, and vote by Ballot for two Persons, of whom one at least shall not be an Inhabitant of the same State with themselves. But in chusing the President, the Votes shall be taken by States, the Representatives from each State having one Vote; a quorum for this Purpose shall consist of a Member or Members from two thirds of the States, and a Majority of all the States shall be necessary to a Choice. In every Case, after the Choice of the President, the Person having the greatest Number of Votes of the Electors shall be the Vice President. But if there should remain two or more who have equal Votes, the Senate shall chuse from them by Ballot the Vice President.

The Congress may determine the Time of chusing the Electors, and the Day on which they shall give their Votes; which Day shall be the same throughout the United States.

No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.

Section. 2.
The President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United States; he may require the Opinion, in writing, of the principal Officer in each of the executive Departments, upon any Subject relating to the Duties of their respective Offices, and he shall have Power to Grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offences against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment.

He shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur; and he shall nominate, and by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, shall appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, Judges of the supreme Court, and all other Officers of the United States, whose Appointments are not herein otherwise provided for, and which shall be established by Law: but the Congress may by Law vest the Appointment of such inferior Officers, as they think proper, in the President alone, in the Courts of Law, or in the Heads of Departments.

The President shall have Power to fill up all Vacancies that may happen during the Recess of the Senate, by granting Commissions which shall expire at the End of their next Session.

Section. 3.
He shall from time to time give to the Congress Information on the State of the Union, and recommend to their Consideration such Measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient; he may, on extraordinary Occasions, convene both Houses, or either of them, and in Case of Disagreement between them, with Respect to the Time of Adjournment, he may adjourn them to such Time as he shall think proper; he shall receive Ambassadors and other public Ministers; he shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed, and shall Commission all the Officers of the United States.

Obuma Revelation Of Sealed Indictment On
Benghazi Suspects Generally Violation Of Federal Law

(As a "Constitutional Scholar", you would think he would know this.  Why they are announcing charges before actually having the suspects in hand is crazy.  Now the guy who was drinking daiquiris will go underground.  Nice work, Clown)

Via ABC News:

President Obama surprised aides when he revealed the existence of a sealed indictment in the Benghazi, Libya, attack today, leaving some wondering if he crossed a legal line.
At a press conference at the White House, President Obama was asked whether justice would come to those responsible for the terrorist attack nearly a year ago in Benghazi, Libya, that killed four Americans, including the U.S. ambassador.

"[W]e have informed, I think, the public that there's a sealed indictment," the president responded. "It's sealed for a reason. But we are intent on capturing those who carried out this attack, and we're going to stay on it until we get them."

That marked the only official confirmation so far of a sealed indictment in the Benghazi case. For days, officials across the law enforcement and intelligence communities have refused to publicly confirm reports of a sealed indictment.

After all, according to federal law, "no person may disclose [a sealed] indictment's existence," and a "knowing violation ... may be punished as a contempt of court." Contempt of court carries a maximum sentence of six months in jail.

A U.S. official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, called the president's disclosure "crazy."

"Doesn't the law apply to the president too?" the official asked, and then jokingly added, "I guess he could pardon himself."

Obuma's Claim Contradicted: NSA Admits to Spying on US Citizens When Searching, Without Warrants, the Content of Emails & Text Messages of Americans Who Are Communicating with Foreigners

The NSA has admitted to spying on untold millions of Americans by searching the content of their emails and text messages. This contradicts Pres. Obama's claim while chatting with Jay Leno on national TV on Tuesday.

Without hesitation, Pres. Obama declared to Leno and late-night show viewers, "We don't have a domestic spying program."
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2013/08/07/obama_we_dont_have_a_domestic_spying_program.html

Bollocks, Mr. President.

The layers of the moldy onion are being peeled back, exposing more of the sinister invasion of privacy conducted by Team Obama's National Security Agency on law-abiding American citizens.

And the federal agency admits to its content searching, without any warrants or evidence of terrorism, Americans' private emails and text messages.

Which is indeed "domestic spying." And likely illegal.

Is Commander in Chief Barack Obama really this stupid and clueless, or is he this arrogantly deceitful?

Reported by New York Times, N.S.A. Said to Search
Content of Messages to and From U.S.:

The National Security Agency is searching the contents of vast amounts of Americans' e-mail and text communications into and out of the country, hunting for people who mention information about foreigners under surveillance, according to intelligence officials.

The N.S.A. is not just intercepting the communications of Americans who are in direct contact with foreigners targeted overseas, a practice that government officials have openly acknowledged. It is also casting a far wider net for people who cite information linked to those foreigners, like a little used e-mail address, according to a senior intelligence official.

While it has long been known that the agency conducts extensive computer searches of data it vacuums up overseas, that it is systematically searching — without warrants — through the contents of Americans' communications that cross the border reveals more about the scale of its secret operations.

It also adds another element to the unfolding debate, provoked by the disclosures of Edward J. Snowden, the former N.S.A. contractor, about whether the agency has infringed on Americans' privacy as it scoops up e-mails and phone data in its quest to ferret out foreign intelligence.

[...]

To conduct the surveillance, the N.S.A. is temporarily copying and then sifting through the contents of what is apparently most e-mails and other text-based communications that cross the border. The senior intelligence official, who, like other former and current government officials, spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the topic, said the N.S.A. makes a "clone of selected communication links" to gather the communications, but declined to specify details, like the volume of the data that passes through them.

Computer scientists said that it would be difficult to systematically search the contents of the communications without first gathering nearly all cross-border text-based data; fiber-optic networks work by breaking messages into tiny packets that flow at the speed of light over different pathways to their shared destination, so they would need to be captured and reassembled.

The official said that a computer searches the data for the identifying keywords or other "selectors" and stores those that match so that human analysts could later examine them. The remaining communications, the official said, are deleted; the entire process takes "a small number of seconds," and the system has no ability to perform "retrospective searching."

The official said the keyword and other terms were "very precise" to minimize the number of innocent American communications that were flagged by the program. At the same time, the official acknowledged that there had been times when changes by telecommunications providers or in the technology had led to inadvertent overcollection. The N.S.A. monitors for these problems, fixes them and reports such incidents to its overseers in the government, the official said.

Even communist radical/disgraced former White House czar Van Jones is shaking his head in disbelief at Obama's absurd claim.
From Hot Air:

Well, it's not like anyone actually bought that nonsense from Obama on the Tonight Show. Even one of Obama's former key aides, Van Jones, openly scoffed at the claim that the NSA wasn't spying on Americans:

"Everybody knows I love this president, but this is ridiculous," said Jones. "We do have a spying program, and we need to figure out how to balance these out."

Jones also criticized the Obama administration's treatment of whistleblowers.

"You are prosecuting more whistleblowers than every American president combined," said Jones. "You can't yuck it up and say, well, whistleblowers come on out and we'll treat you right."

How does the NSA choose its targets? Generously, at least in regard to cross-border collection:

To conduct the surveillance, the N.S.A. is temporarily copying and then sifting through the contents of what is apparently most e-mails and other text-based communications that cross the border. The senior intelligence official, who, like other former and current government officials, spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the topic, said the N.S.A. makes a "clone of selected communication links" to gather the communications, but declined to specify details, like the volume of the data that passes through them.

From Russia Today, No domestic spying? How NSA collects Americans' cross-border emails:

An NSA source has admitted the agency's data collection technology makes it impossible to intercept communication with foreigners without gathering data on US citizens. This counters Obama's claim that US surveillance only concerns 'terrorist threats.'

A senior official at the National Security Agency anonymously explained the process to The New York Times, broadly confirming the revelations about US spying mechanisms leaked by Edward Snowden in previous weeks.

According to Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) regulations from 2008, the NSA is only allowed to track communication between foreign suspects, or a foreigner and an American, without a warrant. Collecting data exchanged between US citizens that way is illegal.

But it appears to be impossible to filter out data relevant to a particular suspect in real-time without capturing a much larger flow of information passing through the world's communication cables, as data parcels are fractured and need to be copied whole before being pieced together.

This data includes communication between non-suspect US citizens, although accessing such correspondence is illegal.

This panel discussion about Obama's NSA occurred a year ago, long before anyone had ever heard of Edward Snowden and of course, long before Barack Obama claimed on the Tonight Show that there is no government domestic spying program:

Federal government says no to aid for Arizona fire that killed 19 firefighters
By Ben Brumfield, CNN
updated 10:45 AM EDT, Sat August 10, 2013

(POS Obuma needs that $20 Million for his Zillionth Vacation.  You can bet if the fire happened in a Demo-ratic State, the money would be there)

(CNN) --  Arizona's top politicians blasted the Obama administration and federal officials over the denial of aid in the wake of the state's deadly wildfire.[/b]

The Yarnell Hill blaze killed 19 firefighters, called "hotshots," in late June, when it changed directions and engulfed them.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency denied the state's request for assistance based on insurance rules, it said in a statement Friday. It determined that not enough uninsured private individuals had become victims to warrant a payout.

FEMA said it is not permitted to "duplicate benefits provided by insurance companies or other federal agencies."

The agency also declined to issue a "major disaster declaration" for affected areas.

Solemn 100-mile procession for fallen firefighters

Fiery response

The decision drew criticism from Arizona's two Republican senators, John McCain and Jeff Flake.

"We are disappointed that FEMA denied the governor's disaster declaration request for the Yarnell Hill Fire," they said in a joint statement. "It is a shame that FEMA couldn't find it within their mission to help rebuild their homes and lives."

Republican Gov. Jan Brewer directed her criticism directly at the president.
"I am deeply troubled by the Obama administration's decision to deny much-needed recovery assistance in the wake of Arizona's deadliest wildfire," she said in a statement.

In a phone call after the fire, President Barack Obama had pledged support, she said. She felt that he had now backed down.

"With today's denial of the state's request, Arizonans are left questioning what help (the president and vice president) were willing to give," she said.

Vice President Joe Biden spoke at a memorial for the fallen hotshots in July.

FEMA firefighting aid

After they perished in the flames, FEMA issued a grant to the state to help cover the costs of fighting the blaze while it was still active.

The fire devoured more than 8,000 acres of woodland. But the Yarnell Hill blaze ravaged two communities, wiping out homes and other buildings.

Arizona's governor and two senators said they want to appeal FEMA's decision.

How you can help

Supporting the families of the fallen
By Rebecca Angel Baer, CNN

(CNN) -- The 19 "hotshot" firefighters killed in Arizona on June 30 were trained to get close to a blaze, dig barriers and clear out the brush that otherwise would fuel it. But a sudden shift in the Yarnell Hill Fire's direction trapped the group.

The deaths are under investigation, but officials have said it appears the 19 were forced to lie down under blankets meant to protect against flames and heat as a last resort against an inferno that overwhelmed them. Just one member of the elite 20-man wildfire-fighting crew survived. It was the deadliest day for U.S. firefighters since the 9/11 attacks.

Now the firefighters' families -- many with small children -- must figure out how to cope, as they mourn their losses.

There are organizations that assist the families of lost firefighters, and several are already mobilized for the families of the Prescott, Arizona-based crew. Ronald Siarnicki is the executive director of one such group, the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.

"In general, needs end up being the same for fallen firefighters, no matter where it is in the country. The immediate needs are going to be some financial support to help them deal with costs associated with the death. Oftentimes the firefighter is the main breadwinner in the household, so you've got to worry about food on the table, shoes for the kids and those kinds of things," Siarnicki says.

The foundation also helps with the necessary paperwork for each family as well as providing emotional support.

"We use survivors from other line-of-duty death incidents to be in our survivor support network, and we kind of match survivors up from previous events with the new families, so they have somebody to talk to. Sometimes they just need somebody who understands what they're going through," explains Siarnicki, who was a firefighter in Prince George's County, Maryland, for 24 years.

Siarnicki's group also helps the children of fallen firefighters cope with their loss, because they often don't understand the spotlight such an event puts them under. There are also long-term needs for the entire family to help rebuild their lives. The foundation holds conferences to teach life skills and financial planning.

Siarnicki says the 19 firefighters lost in Arizona were a special breed -- like many others who choose to be firefighters.

"The fire service is a very dangerous profession, whether you're career or volunteer, wildlands or industrial or even military firefighters. We understand the risks to being a firefighter and we accept those. And we try to do everything humanly possible to prevent tragic occurrences, but unfortunately they do occur. And so our families kind of know that."

"And so there is a bonding effect within the fire service," Siarnicki continues. "There is that fire service family. And I think the uniqueness of that is we function as a team. A fire crew, you know, they live together, sleep together, eat together, laugh together, go home to their families, but when they're at work, there's a secondary family. And both of those have very special unique bonds."

Via The Weekly Standard:

In just about seven weeks, people will be able to start buying Obamacare-approved insurance plans through the new health care exchanges.

But already, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is predicting those plans, and the whole system of distributing them, will eventually be moot.

Reid said he thinks the country has to "work our way past" insurance-based health care during a Friday night appearance on Vegas PBS' program "Nevada Week in Review."

"What we've done with Obamacare is have a step in the right direction, but we're far from having something that's going to work forever," Reid said.

When then asked by panelist Steve Sebelius whether he meant ultimately the country would have to have a health care system that abandoned insurance as the means of accessing it, Reid said: "Yes, yes. Absolutely, yes."
