On September 28, 1868, a mob of Democrats massacred nearly 300 African-American Republicans in Opelousas, Louisiana. The savagery began when racist Democrats attacked a newspaper editor, a white Republican and schoolteacher for ex-slaves. Several African-Americans rushed to the assistance of their friend, and in response, Democrats went on a "Negro hunt," killing every African-American (all of whom were Republicans) in the area they could find. Oprah Winfrey discussed her new role in The Butler with Parade Magazine this week.
She shared her thoughts on the n-word and lynchings.

On using the word 'Nigger':

Lee Daniels: It's a word I used quite a bit, until Oprah sat me down and talked to me about its power.

Winfrey: You cannot be my friend and use that word around me. It shows my age, but I feel strongly about it. ... I always think of the millions of people who heard that as their last word as they were hanging from a tree.

Forest Whitaker: I don't use the word. Never did.

Go tell Lil Wayne.

Of course, Oprah is a bit off on her numbers. Tuskegee Institute tracked the number of lynchings in the United States. They found that there were 4,743 lynchings in the US from 1882 to 1968. A majority of the lynchings took place in the Democratic South. One in four of the victims were white.

Oprah was a bit off, as usual

Republicans outlawed the Ku Klux Klan
On this day in 1871, the Republican-controlled 42nd Congress passed and the Republican President, Ulysses Grant, signed into law the Ku Klux Klan Act.  The law banned the KKK and other Democrat terrorist organizations.  President Grant then deployed federal troops to crush a Klan uprising in South Carolina.

Eleven years later, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned most provisions of the Act.  Though legalized, this original version of the Ku Klux Klan faded.  Why?  Because as Democrats regained control over southern state governments, they could oppress African-Americans openly, without need of white sheets.

George Zimmerman Pulled Over For Speeding While Packing Heat In Texas

Via TMZ:
George Zimmerman is still armed and theoretically dangerous... he was stopped by cops for speeding and revealed he had a gun in his glove compartment.

Zimmerman was speeding in Forney, Texas on Sunday, just after noon, when he was stopped by police.  Zimmerman told cops he was headed "nowhere in particular," and informed them he had a firearm in his glove compartment.

Zimmerman was given a warning, after cops determined he was free of warrants.  He was sent on his way with a polite goodbye, "Have a safe trip."

Groan: Smithsonian Wants Trayvon Martin's Hoodie

(Oh yeah... Brilliant idea, let's glorify thug behavior in the Smithsonian!)
Via DCist:

Now that the trial of George Zimmerman is over, what will become of the hooded sweatshirt worn by Travyon Martin on the night he was shot and killed? That's the question posed today in a great Washington Post piece. And while it may be some time before we get an answer, one suggestion means the hooded sweatshirt, a piece of clothing that has taken on greater meaning after Martin's death, could eventually be on display in D.C.

Lonnie Bunch, the director of the National Museum of African American History and Culture [part of the Smithsonian -ed.], told the Post he'd "love" to acquire the sweatshirt for a collection, an idea endorsed by the Rev. Al Sharpton:

Martin's hoodie, Bunch said, represents a unique opportunity to further the discussion about race in America. (And, by the way, he'd love to have it for his collection once the legal case plays out. He also has his eye on the hoodie that Marian Wright Edelman, founder of the Children's Defense Fund, wore in solidarity with protesters.)

"It became the symbolic way to talk the Trayvon Martin case. It's rare that you get one artifact that really becomes the symbol," Bunch said. "Because it's such a symbol, it would allow you to talk about race in the age of Obama."

Curators, he mused, could "ask the bigger questions" prompted by the case. "Are we in a post-racial age?" Bunch asked, dreaming about how the hoodie might help shape perceptions. Then he answered the question: "This trial says, 'No

('Pants suit' Clinton still needs Obuma and will toe the line.  She has powerful, rich supporters within the party, but he still has the blessing of the "Chicago" machinery.  'Plugs' Biden is expendable because his "aw shucks" persona is no longer viable with voters.  You have to understand that the D.C. political empire is pure theater... complete with a carefully orchestrated script and hand chosen actors.  By now, everyone should realize that Obuma was groomed and moved along a fast track to the presidency.  Gaffmaster Biden was not an Obuma choice, but was hand selected to be Obuma's insurance policy to thwart any attempts at impeachment.  With Obuma's propensity for picking agenda-driven radicals, 'Plugs' doesn't fit the profile except as a place holder)

You are right Warph. I keep forgetting. I need to bang my head on the wall or something.  Thanks for the reminder.

Why do we need a strong military when Obama has his strong Homeland Security Army?
Some military leaders say their monies have been ad are being shifted to the Homeland Security Army.
And I wonder why? Do we need such a strong Army here on our continent?
Oh well, I don't have any answers and I guess I probably shouldn't ask for any.
Big Brother is reading this and might come after me for even suggesting such nonsense.
We do have to be careful what we say don't we?
Even if I am a ten year veteran of the Vietnam war and want to believe in my country, I still have to be careful, right

Well the email I receive from Military.com had this story to tell.

Hagel Forecasts Massive Cuts to Troop Numbers

Aug 01, 2013
Military.com| by Richard Sisk

The Army would shrink to 380,000 troops, the Marines Corps to 150,000. The Navy would lose three carriers, and the Air Force would begin mothballing its B-52 bomber fleet under a worst-case budget scenario outlined Wednesday by Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel.

In addition, Tricare fees would go up, housing allowances would be slashed, pay raises would be scaled back, and commissary subsidies would be reduced, Hagel said -- unless Congress and the White House can agree to lift the sequestration deficit-reduction process that is projected to take $500 billion out of defense budgets over the next 10 years.

The re-balance of forces to the Pacific under the national defense strategy introduced by Preident Obama would also come under renewed scrutiny from the budget planners.

"We are committed to sustaining that effort in a significant way," a senior Pentagon official said of the so-called "Pacific pivot" to counter the rise of China. However, "it would be very challenging to implement that as conceived," he said.

Hagel and Adm. James Winnefeld, the vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, discussed at press briefing the findings of the Pentagon's Strategic Choices and Management Review after first consulting with Congressional leaders.

A guiding principle in the review was "maximizing the military's combat power by looking to reduce every other category of spending first," Hagel said. To that end, the review led by Deputy Defense Secretary Ashton Carter sought to make a "basic tradeoff" between the military's "capacity and capability," Hagel said. (bolding is my emphasis)

Nationwide "Impeach Obama" Protest Set for August 6
by Keith Koffler on July 31, 2013

(Be there, forum or be square.  I'm sure there are "overpasses in KS.  I'll be at Sun City Grand with the group on the overpass #303 freeway.  If you really want to get the drivers attention, go naked)

A grassroots group with thousands of members is planning nationwide protests August 6 calling for President Obama's impeachment.

The group, "Overpasses for Impeachment," has gained steam since launching in mid-June and now appears to have a presence on all 50 states.

Scores of protests are on tap, with members taking to overpasses above major throughways during morning and afternoon rush hour brandishing signs calling for impeachment.

The organizing has been done mainly via the group's Facebook Page, which has spawned Facebook groups in all 50 states, most of which appear to have hundreds and in a couple of cases thousands of members.

The group has already staged dozens of overpass protests leading up to the nationwide event August 6. One in North Carolina, covered yesterday by the Winston-Salem Journal, appears typical.

On Tuesday, 15 local protesters got an early start. They gathered at the Harper Road exit on Interstate 40 in Clemmons for three hours for what the organizer of the event, Michelle Taylor, said is "a precursor to the national movement."

Protesters wielded hand-made signs declaring "Impeach Obama" and flags, joining in what is called "Overpasses for Obama's Impeachment."

Most states have multiple protests planned for August 6. The Florida group has scheduled 14, while at least eight will be held around California.

So far, the organization seems more a vehicle for protesting against Obama than actually impeaching him, as there is little evidence of any serious consideration in Congress to remove the president. The group's website lists a dozen "reasons for impeachment," several of which focus on unilateral actions Obama has taken without the consent of Congress.

Government [a**hole] Agents "Armed To The Teeth" Raid No-Kill Animal Shelter
To Euthanize Baby Deer

(The kicker: Giggles was scheduled to go to a wildlife preserve the next day.  This kind of crap just boggles the mind.  I wonder how much this act of 'bravery' by heroic federal goons cost us taxpayers?  And they wonder why we despise and distrust the government?  This is an outrage on so many levels...)

...investigates an operation raising questions about the use of government resources and the state policy that meant a death sentence for a fawn.

It was like a SWAT team," shelter employee Ray Schulze said.

Two weeks ago, Schulze was working in the barn at the Society of St. Francis on the Kenosha-Illinois border when a swarm of squad cars arrived and officers unloaded with a search warrant.

"(There were) nine DNR agents and four deputy sheriffs, and they were all armed to the teeth," Schulze said.

The focus of their search was a baby fawn brought there by an Illinois family worried she had been abandoned by her mother.

"When it made a little noise, it sounded like it was laughing," Schulze said.

Schulze videotaped the fawn they named Giggles during the two weeks she was there. The Department of Natural Resources began investigating after two anonymous calls reporting a baby deer at the no-kill shelter.

The warden drafted an affidavit for the search warrant, complete with aerial photos in which he described getting himself into a position where he was able to see the fawn going in and out of the barn.

Agents told staff they came to seize the deer because Wisconsin law forbids the possession of wildlife.

"I said the deer is scheduled to go to the wildlife reserve the next day," Schulze said.

It was to go to a wildlife reserve in Illinois that allows the rehabilitation of deer. Schulze said agents corralled workers near the picnic area and then set out in search of the fawn.

"I was thinking in my mind they were going to take the deer and take it to a wildlife shelter, and here they come carrying the baby deer over their shoulder. She was in a body bag," Schulze said. "I said, 'Why did you do that?' He said, 'That's our policy,' and I said, 'That's one hell of a policy.'"

Florida Is Doomed! Sixty yr.old Dementia-ridden Chaka Khan To Boycott The State Over Zimmerman Verdict

(How will Florida ever survive? Damn Nigga... she needs to worry about her Son and Daughter-in-law who are heavy in drugs.

Via News One:
In a recent interview, singing sensation Chaka Khan (pictured above) said she will not perform in Florida, after George Zimmerman's acquittal in Trayvon Martin's murder, according to the Huffington Post.

Khan, who recorded a tribute song for Martin in March, decided to take her disdain for the not-guilty verdict a step further, "Well I am boycotting Florida. I had a booking there last week, and I cancelled it. But if any tribute comes up I'll do it. Absolutely."

Kahn believes the trial was indicative of the racism that is still alive in America, "Well, the trial, No. 1, was a travesty. Racism is still very much alive and well in this country. It has gone to more of a cerebral state, but it's alive and well. The new slavery is keeping Black men in jail."

Teachers Union President On Teachers Carrying Guns: Students Will Say, "If I Answer The Wrong Question, Is My Teacher Going To Shoot Me?," Parents Will Worry About Being Shot For Asking Questions

VIDEO: http://www.mrctv.org/videos/nbc-asks-if-i-answer-wrong-question-my-teacher-going-shoot-me

(If a child thinks they're going to get shot for answering the wrong question, there is something very wrong with that teacher.  If this is the mentality of the President of the Teacher's Union, it goes a long way toward explaining why many public school students can't read and write... particularly cursive)

Via Newsbusters:

"I would hate for students to say, 'Oh, my goodness, if I answer the wrong question, is my teacher going to shoot me? If I make my teacher angry, is my teacher going to shoot me?'

I also think it impacts parents. Parents many times come into classrooms to have uncomfortable conversations with teachers. And I wouldn't want parents to come in and be hesitant to say something to me with, "Is this the teacher who's packing the gun and what do I have to be fearful?" I think it would make an environment of fear."

Times Free Press Editorial Page Editor Fired
For Writing This Headline:

(Hee... Hee... You can read the article here.  It was picked up by Drudge so it got a ton of exposure, which of course made Obuma look bad during his trip to Chattanooga.
http://www.timesfreepress.com/news/2013/jul/30/take-your-jobs-plan-and-shove-it-mr-president-your/?opinionfreepress)

Free Press editor Drew Johnson has been terminated after placing a headline on an editorial outside of normal editing procedures.

Johnson's headline, "Take your jobs plan and shove it, Mr. President: Your policies have harmed Chattanooga enough," appeared on the Free Press page Tuesday, the day President Barack Obama visited the city.

The headline was inappropriate for this newspaper. It was not the original headline approved for publication, and Johnson violated the normal editing process when he changed the headline. The newspaper's decision to terminate Johnson had nothing to do with the content of the editorial, which criticized the president's job creation ideas and Chattanooga's Smart Grid. The Free Press page has often printed editorials critical of the president and his policies.

The Chattanooga Times Free Press is unique in that it has two editorial pages, the conservative Free Press page and the liberal Times page. This newspaper places high value on expressions of divergent opinion, but will not permit violations of its standards.
