(This does not say that Mr. Shaffer lived in Elk County, but he died in Kansas.  I am adding it because it might be someone's relative.)

Mr. Percy Lee Shaffer was born in Champaign county, Ill., April 21st, 1878, removed to Missouri with his parents when a small boy, lived for several years near Casville, Barry county, but for the past few years, up to 1909, he lived near Kings Point, Dade county, with his parents.  He was a kind and dutiful son.  On October 21st, 1908 he was married to Miss Maggie Sweeney of Greenfield.  She was a Christian girl and by her influence Percy was led to seek the Lord.  He professed fiath in Christ, Nov. 25th, 1909, and was baptized into the fellowship of the Kings Point Baptist church, November 28th, where he continued a faithful member until his untimely death which occurred on January 5th, 1911, by the accidental discharge of a shot gun at his home in Kansas.  His remains were shipped to Lockwood and from there to his old home near Kings Point where his fuenral was preached by the writer on Sunday at 2 p.m. in the presence of a very large audience of sorrowing friends, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Kings Point cemetery.  Percy was a kind and loving husband and an affectionate son and brother and will be greatly missed.  May Heaven's richest blessing attend the weeping loved ones.  His old friend and pastor, J. T. Brattin.  - Greenfield Vidette, Greenfield, Missouri.
