In My Life
Nov 23, 2012 04:00 am | Roy

In my trouble God is greater,
In my weakness He is strong;
In my trial God is dearer,
In my sorrow He's my song.
In my burden God is mighty,
In my storm He calms the sea;
In my tears I know His comfort,
In my life He's all to me.

If God is for us, who can ever be against us? Since He did not spare even His own Son but gave Him up for us all, won't He also give us everything else? Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for His own? No one—for God Himself has given us right standing with Himself. Who then will condemn us? No one—for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and He is sitting in the place of honor at God's right hand, pleading for us. Can anything ever separate us from Christ's love? Does it mean He no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? (As the Scriptures say, "For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep." ) No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God's love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God's love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:31-38 NLT

He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked. 1 John 2:6 NKJV

If we had His walk how would we be living?
If we had His generosity how would we be giving?
If we had His ears how would we be listening?
If we had His heart how would be caring?
If we had His light how would we be seeing?
If we had His mind how would we be thinking?
If we had His words how would we be speaking?
If we had His wisdom how would we be planning?
If we had His grace how would we be serving?
If we had His mercy how would we be responding?
If we had His life how would we be changing?

Today, I want to make a difference.

God's Overwhelming Riches
Nov 27, 2012 04:00 am | Mandy

For your sakes He became [so very] poor, in order that by His poverty you might become enriched (abundantly supplied). 2 Corinthians 8:9 AMP

As you walk with Jesus day by day, you will find that your thankfulness to Him is an ever increasing symphony of praise, building into a lifelong crescendo of gratitude that flows from your heart to His. You, who have so little, have received so much, because He has been so generous.

Everything you have has come from Him, and that is the reason your heart can be so grateful

Walk in the Spirit
Nov 28, 2012 04:00 am | Roy

If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Galatians 5:25

What does it mean to walk in the Spirit?

To walk in the Spirit means to follow the Spirit. It means that the Spirit is going somewhere and wants you to come along and be a part of where He is going and what He is doing. The Holy Spirit wants you to follow Him in your choices, in your attitudes, in your thoughts, in your work, in your home, and in your relationships; the Spirit wants you to follow Him in your prayers, your worship, your fellowship, and your witness; the Spirit wants you to follow Him into the light of Jesus, into the knowledge of His will, into the revelation of the Scriptures, and into the ministry within the body of Christ.

To walk in the Spirit means that He is going at a stride that allows you to keep in step. He is not moving too fast and yelling back at you to pick up the pace. To walk in the Spirit means that you are not trying to get ahead of Him because you think He is moving too slowly to meet your timetable. It also means that you are allowing Him to be in all the stops and all the starts; all the yeahs and all the nays; all the climbing and all the descending; all the going outs and all the coming ins; all the labors and all the rests.

To walk in the Spirit means traveling on the highway of holiness—taking up your cross; denying yourself, placing no confidence in the flesh; departing from evil; forsaking sin. To walk in the Spirit is the pure way, the righteous way, and the only way that will glorify God. The Holy Spirit will never lead you to walk in an unholy way.

To walk in the Spirit means to go in the right direction and arrive at the right destination—the Holy Spirit never gets sidetracked, strays off course, or gives wrong directions. When you walk in the Spirit you don't need to be anxious about how things will turn out or where things will finish up. To walk in the Spirit means to walk by faith, confident that the way of the Spirit will always lead you down the center of God's will and straight to His heart.

To walk in the Spirit means a life of freedom and fruitfulness. The Spirit frees you from the slave market of sin, from the weight of guilt, from the cloud of condemnation, from the fear of judgment, and from the terrors of the wrath to come. The Spirit brings you into the joys that take you higher than your spirit can soar, into the peace that is beyond what your soul can understand, and into the fruits of love that go deeper than your heart can ever explore.

A Child is Born

For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given. Isaiah 9:6

To those in sin, God sent us the Savior;
To those in darkness, God sent us the Light;
To those in bondage, God sent us the Deliverer;
To those in defeat, God sent us the Victor;
To those in want, God sent us the Shepherd;
To those in hunger, God sent us the Bread;
To those in pain, God sent us the Physician;

"And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ." Matthew 1:16

The name Christ means Messiah. Messiah means the Anointed One, the One sent by God to be the Savior. For centuries the Jewish people had known through the promises God made to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, and King David that Messiah would come. The prophets also spoke of the Messiah's coming. Isaiah proclaimed, "His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace."

The name Jesus Christ means that He is the Savior of all who believe, the promised Messiah, and the anointed Redeemer of Israel. He is the one that God so faithfully promised. Jesus was sent by the God of Israel,  Jesus was appointed by the God of Israel, Jesus was anointed by the God of Israel. Jesus knew why He was sent, no one had to tell Him; He understood why He was sent, no one had to explain it to Him; He rejoiced in why He was sent, no one had to motivate Him.

His place, His person, His position, His passion, His purpose, flowed from the anointing He carried as the one sent by God.

"Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him." Matthew 2:2

One night, in one place, one special star appeared in the heavens, for one ordained length of time, and with one specific purpose.

All the other stars in the night sky were lights declaring the glory of God, but the light of this star appeared to point the way to the One True Light. The other stars spoke of the great work of Creation, but this star proclaimed the coming of the Creator to earth.
The other stars revealed God's handiwork, but this star revealed His mighty arm of salvation.

No one has ever had a star appear as a travel guide, giving directions to those who sought the place where the child lived. The wise men called the star "His Star," the star of the King of the Jews. They also knew that "His Star" meant that God had sent His promised gift from Heaven, for they made their journey not as tourists, but as worshipers.

God still guides seeking hearts to the One True Light. As the world around us grows darker, the Light of Jesus Christ shines even brighter. He is the Light of truth, of hope, of purity, and of beauty. His Light shines through the faces of those who know Him, through the eyes of those who see Him, through the character of those who walk with Him, and through the hearts of those who love and serve Him.

Beholding His Glory
Dec 10, 2012 04:00 am | Roy

For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:6 NKJV

(Jesus Christ) being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person. Hebrews 1:3 NKJV

What is glory? In Hebrew it means splendor, honor, beauty, majesty, grandeur, or excellence. In Greek it means dignity, honor, praise, or esteem. No amount of words, however descriptive they may be, can help us fully grasp what glory truly is. The reason is because glory is not so much about what we describe, as it is about what we behold.

In John 1:14 we read, "And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth." John wasn't given a divine description of Jesus Christ, he was given a personal revelation of Him. John's eyes looked upon the fullness of God's glory— grace and truth in the face of Jesus Christ.

What is the glory of God? Jesus Christ!

Who is the glory of God? Jesus Christ!

Where is the glory of God? Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ is the center point, the starting point, and the ending point of the glory of God. We behold the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ, not somewhere else or through something else.

His glory is so great, so vast, and so magnificent that it will take you an eternity to behold it. His glory will keep on delighting you. His glory will mean one continuous "Wow, Jesus, Wow!" forever, and ever, and ever. Hallelujah!
