Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness." Psalm 37:3 NKJV

There is one thing that God says to every believer, regardless of his circumstances — "Trust Me."

Even though...Part 1
Aug 22, 2012 04:00 am | Roy

Even though I may hear the world's boo's, the cheers of heaven are enough!

Even though popular opinion is powerful, when I speak the truth of God it is backed by His omnipotence!

Even though I may not be culturally relevant, I can be eternally significant!

Even though I may be excluded from membership in some influential and exclusive organization, I have been chosen in Him before the foundation of the world.

Even though my possessions are depreciating and my bank account is decreasing, I have an inheritance in heaven that is incorruptible, undefiled and will not fade away.

Even though I do not hold a powerful office or the influence of a president, I will reign with the King of kings and Lord of lords.

Even though I am not in lockstep with the world, I am following the pathway of my Shepherd.

God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. Galatians 6:14

Trust God & His Timing
On My arm, they will trust. Isaiah 51:5

Even when you are too weary to stand,
His arm will always there to lean upon!

Be patient. We don't need to know everything right now. In this life we won't be able to resolve every question, solve every problem, or understand every situation. In time, everything will be made clear. God is in control. Things won't always be the way they are right now. We don't need to fret over God's timetable. We will inherit all the promises of God through with and patience. God knows how and when to bring about change. Trust His timing.

Even though...Part 2
Aug 24, 2012 04:00 am | Roy

Even though I have many limitations and weaknesses, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Even though I don't qualify as a genius, I do have the mind of Christ.

Even though I don't laugh at the crude humor of the sitcoms, the joy of the Lord is my strength.

Even though I may be considered narrow minded, I still believe that straight is the way that leads to life and few there be that find it.

Even though I am not laying up treasures on earth, I am sending them on ahead.

Even though my past is not perfect, goodness and mercy will continue to follow me all the days of my life.

Even though there are hardships ahead, I am more than a conqueror through Him who loves me.

None of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus...Acts 20:24

Calling
Aug 27, 2012 04:00 am | Roy

God has not called us to the place of perfect service,

but to the place of faithful service;

Not to the place of work without rest,

but to the place of rest in our work;

Not to the place of making everyone happy,

but to the place of pleasing Him.

Today, I want to make a difference.

"He gets it"

Aug 29, 2012 04:00 am | Roy

I recently had the opportunity to review a new book called In the Wilderness. It took but a few moments of reading to discover the phrase, "He gets it!" Those words lingered with me throughout the book. Could there be a clearer, simpler, or more powerful way of bringing home to our hearts the reason why Jesus, our faithful High Priest, suffered and was tempted in the wilderness?

"He gets it" in our pain and sorrow; "He gets it" in our tears and grief; "He gets it" in our weariness and weakness. No eyes can see like His; no ears can listen like His; no voice can speak like His; no thoughts can understand like His; no prayers can intercede like His; no touch can heal like His; no heart can care like His.

Jesus, who willingly walked into His God-appointed wilderness, can now, mercifully and tenderly, walk with us through our wilderness experience.

Since we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:14-16 ESV

Knowing the Shepherd; The Shepherd Knowing You
Aug 31, 2012 04:00 am | Roy

I am the Good Shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own. My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. John 10:14-15 NKJV

Knowing His voice means you will hear the voice of clarity and not confusion; you will know the voice of peace and not the voice of anxiety; you will be instructed by the voice of wisdom and not the voice of folly; you will be told the way of holiness and not the way of sin; you will be instructed with the voice of good counsel and not the voice of bad advice; you will know the voice of light and not the voice of darkness; you will know the voice that takes you on a straight path, and not the voice that brings you to a dead end; you will hear the voice of truth and not the voice of deception.

Knowing that He knows you means that He knows you personally and will not confuse you or your needs with another sheep in His flock. His eyes see all the sheep of His fold and yet His eye is personally on you. He knows where you are and will guide you; He knows your fears and will keep you safe; He knows your hunger and He will feed you; He knows your weariness and will give you rest; He knows your valleys and will bring you through; He knows your enemy and will defend you; He knows your dwelling place and will safely bring you home.

Following Jesus
Sep 03, 2012 04:00 am | Roy

Today's guest posting is by Rolf Garborg. Rolf is the author of the best-selling book The Family Blessing. For over 40 years Rolf has traveled the world, making Christ known to his generation through personal testimony, teaching, and the ministry of Christian literature.

What does it really mean to be a follower of Jesus?  What did Paul mean when he wrote in 1 John 2:6 NLT that "Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Jesus did"?  I have thought a lot about that and have boiled it down to four basic elements, built around an understanding of receiving and giving.

Everything we have, we have received, either as the result of our work or as a gift.  What we do with what we have will determine the degree of joy and satisfaction we receive from it.  Everything we have is intended to be shared and passed on, especially those gifts that are from God.  It is indeed better to give than receive, but to do that, we must first receive what God has for us.  That brings us to what it is that we have received and what we are to do with it.

1) God's unconditional love:  Jesus said in John 15, "As the Father has loved me, even so have I loved you." And then "This is my commandment, that you love one another even as I have loved you."  Just as much as God loves His Son Jesus, Jesus loves us.  That is unconditional.  Then He commands us to love one another just as much.  We cannot possibly do this without first receiving His love.

2) God's unilateral forgiveness:  Jesus' first words from the cross were, "Father forgive them for they don't know what they are doing."  Ever since then, Jesus has been making that same plea to God on our behalf.  Paul says in Eph. 4:32, "And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, FORGIVING one another even as God, for Christ's sake, has forgiven you.  To the degree that you have been forgiven by God, to that same degree we must forgive others, even before they ask for it."

3) God's presence:  Jesus said, "come unto Me all who are weary...and learn of Me".  We are invited to sit at God's feet and worship Him, meditate on His word and observe His love in action and to do so regularly.  Then, as we are filled with His presence in our lives we are able to go into all the world and let that light shine brightly.  We must make a habit of feeding daily on what we get by abiding in His presence so we can remain strong in our life in this world.

4) God's blessing:  When Jesus was with His disciples, they were bold and strong.  When He left them they panicked and even denied that they knew Him.  Jesus saw this coming and said, "Greater things than this will you see because I go to my Father." He was talking about His Holy Spirit, the Comforter, the Baptizer, the Equipper.  We receive His Spirit when we receive Christ, but we must be filled with and baptized with His Spirit to be renewed daily and receive power to live in this world and be a witness for Him.  We can then speak blessing into the lives of all we meet through this power of the Holy Spirit.

To me, these are the fundamentals of being a follower of Christ.  It starts with receiving from Him and is carried out by sharing all we have received with others.

50 Moments of Music & Inspiration
Sep 04, 2012 04:00 am | Mandy

Hi there!

Over the past several years, the Lord has used Roy's writings to influence and affect many lives in positive ways. We hope you've found something on Meet Me in the Meadow that has spoken to you, and it's our prayer that the Lord continues to use Roy's writings to glorify Him!

Several posts from Meet Me in the Meadow have influenced Jonathan Urie (click here to read our introduction of Jon several months ago) to combine the writings and music to create "50 Moments of Music & Inspiration Just for You." Jon has personally chosen 50 posts from Meet Me in the Meadow and combined the messages with piano and string music that is sure to bless your heart.

We'd love for you to download a free song today from this 50 track CD. Just click here to download* the MP3 track called, "What's It All About," taken from the post originally found here, also listed below.

What's It All About?

It's about the painting, not the frame; it's about the treasure, not the vessel; it's about His truth, not our opinions; it's about His glory, not our looks; it's about His love, not our niceness; it's about His purpose, not our plans; it's about His kingdom, not our agenda; it's about His reign, not our rights; it's about His life, not our efforts. It's about Jesus!

But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord. 2 Corinthians 3:18

For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, 2 Corinthians 4:6-7

If this song is a blessing to you, or if you'd like to preview the remaining tracks from the CD, just click here. 50 Moments of Music & Inspiration Just for You is also available for purchase for only $9.99. This is a digital download only– no hard copies are available at this time.

Our special thanks goes out to Jon and his team for their heart-felt work on this project. Please leave a comment below if you have any questions at all.

God Bless,
Mandy Butler

Abundantly
Sep 05, 2012 04:00 am | Roy

God's way is the abundant way! There's no rationing in heaven, no skimping from the throne, no shortage of supply from the treasures of His mercies. His life gushes forth from the well of salvation; His spiritual refreshing flows from rivers of living water;  His constant and consistent goodness is poured out through downpours of blessings.

He is the God of—

Abundant mercy (Numbers 14:18)
Abundant kindness (Nehemiah 9:17)
Abundant justice (Job 37:23)
Abundant truth (Psalms 86:15)
Abundant redemption (Psalms 130:7)
Abundant loving kindness (Jonah 4:2)
Abundant grace (1 Timothy 1:14)
Abundant satisfaction (Psalms 36:8)
Abundant blessing (Psalms 132:15)
Abundant pardon (Isaiah 55:7)
Abundant life (John 10:10)
Abundant joy (2 Corinthians 8:2)
