This was at the bottom of the devotion for the day...........and I felt that last statement applied to this debate/posting. I do not have answers........just understand what Steve is saying. As well as Diane.
That is what is so great about living in the UNITED STATES.........all may have their beliefs and practice them...........as for me and my house, We will serve the Lord.

Transforming Our Culture

Scripture Reading:  Romans  12:9-16

When  Jesus Christ returns, we will no longer need to worry about transforming our  culture because He will set up His Kingdom rule. But until that time, we need  to reach the world for Him and for our children, grandchildren and  great-grandchildren.

What  is the role of Christians in our society? Jeremiah 29:4-11 illustrates this  foundational principle: Society is transformed when God's people execute His  strategy in history in a Christ-centered way.

The  prophet Jeremiah challenged the Jews in Babylonian captivity to regain their  spiritual clarity. The Babylonian pagans  were not Israel's  greatest problem to deal with. The Jews had become pagans themselves and had  failed to remain God's distinct, unique people.

When the church fails to be God's unique people, the entire culture will  suffer the effects of sin.

Today, I want to make a difference.
Here I am Lord, use me!

In traveling I've been to a few SB churches in the South.  I can agree with Srkruzich that they are getting more liberal
however it appears that way across the board.

Of course, some are using the organizational approach to replace the Church.  Jesus started His church, not an organziation
to do His work.

Yes you are right. We are free to worship as we see fit.   The answer to the role of Christians?  There is only but 1 role that christ commanded.  Go ye into all the world and teach and preach the gospel to every creature.

Like i was pointing out in revelation. The church is dying. It is becoming just like other religions.  There is only 1 true church and thats the NT church that christ set up.   The key is not religion.  We have the wrong view of God in todays society.  Either they think he's non existant or he loves everyone so he won't condemn anyone.  The truth is, that is our choice whether or not to be condemned. But on the flip side he is no angry God standing up there ready to strike us when we screw up.

The view i have of God, was set by my dad.  I see God like i knew my dad.  He doesn't want blind obedience, he has that with the angels. He wants a relationship. So he allows us to walk in Grace and make our mistakes.  Then when we are tired of messing with the mess we make, he is there with open arms to take us back and take over the mess.    We don't need religion to do that for us.He leads us directly, not through a church heirarchy. The church is just a support mechanism.   Kinda like a school.

You know if you have a kid ditching school to go to work, do you not set the rule either show up or we'll send the truant officer after ya?   No difference in church.  Your in a school learning and if you ditch the school/service, God doesn't sends the truant officer/holy spirit to say hey you need to get back to school your not done learning.
