"Sometime in the future when city officials want to use those light poles to promote a special event they may find themselves handcuffed by their own lawmaking."

Red I know that area well. I am not surprised at all. It is not the old families that think that way. It is the professional victims that moved there.
Lexington is very left these days, very politicaly correct.
I qualify to join the sons of confederate vets. I qualify for the Mayflower society too,and they hate the evil whites that setteled this country also.
To sum it up short......screw political correct fly that flag, Reconstruction is still alive and well.

You're right!

There's no alternatives - I'll remain un-reconstructed.

Diane Amberg

Whoa!  Humpy, the Mayflower Society hates the colonialists and the founding fathers? Why? If we hadn't fought the  Revolutionary War you'd have a very different flag yet.

Some organizations will no longer stand.  They've been watered down to accept centralization and Federalism.
Churches have even went liberal.  We ought to defend the founding fathers of the U S Flag, instead there's much
leaning towards socialism.

Surely, you can understand that or not?

Red, someday you figure out I'm just teasing you.You act SO serious.  The economic tides have swung in this country for many, many years and we haven't fallen yet.  The Gloom and Doom bloggers depend on people like you for their bread and butter. You are such a pessimist!  Such woe and sack cloth and ashes. Things aren't good right now, haven't been before but will be again.
If people would stop being such a "gimme" minded bunch we could all live on less. Bring the troops home and suddenly this country has tons more money to spend in some other way, or even lower taxes.
Interestingly enough, I enjoyed seeing a very early Confederate flag on Antiques Road Show this evening. It had 15 stars in a circle and three bars. It had really seen some rough treatment.

No, actually I'm on the winning side.  And also, the South was right just as our founding fathers were right.
The yankees did not save the Union, they changed the Union and they're still working at changing it even more these days.
Obama and the Republicans.  You can't seem to tell that I'm not a Republican and I never have been and I don't ever want
to be a Republican.

Lately, you and the Catwoman have put on quite a display of both your leanings to liberalism.  It really reminds me of Lincoln and his Marxists rather than the Southern Confederates (rebels) and the northeastern democrats that favored the British rather than the American revolutionaries (rebels).

A number of us here don't give a hoot about socialism.  I'd rather be on the winning side which is the right side.

The 15 star was for Kansas I believe, I may be wrong. Anyway the 15th star was put on in anticipation of another state that they hoped would join the confederacy. Diane may remember better than I do.
