Mine? Then people shouldn't build in high risk areas and banks shouldn't give them mortgages to do it. There should be no Federal Flood Insurance that only a few can benefit from. If private insurance companies won't cover it, then too bad, unless people are wealthy enough to be self insured. So as usual, the very wealthy win out.

WHY DO WE Care?  IF they live in a flood zone, then by God, its their responsibility to either pay for the insurance for when they get wiped out, OR move somewhere where it doesn't flood!  Good Grief.  What the hell ever happened to common sense!

And as far as the very wealthy wins?  WHO CARES!  its their money they earned it they deserve to do any damn thing they want with their money.  I do not understand the liberal bullshit mindset that says the rich owe me because their rich.  That shit is geting tired!  No one owes anyone a damn thing in this world.  ITs your responsibility to take care of yourself!
NOT MINE, NOT Patriots, NOT ROSS's DIANES, or TERESAS,lNOR THE GOVERNMENTS!  ITS YOUR Damn responsibility to take care of yourself!

Why are you crediting me for things I didn't say or mean? "Rich" people don't owe me anything unless something they do affects me and mine.
The problem happens when people who don't live in flood plains are affected when people who don't have any common sense are allowed to build anything they want where ever they want, which can cause the drainage area to change and suddenly peoples houses do get flooded out who were never affected before. That's especially true if the up steam drainage ditches and areas aren't properly maintained. WHO is going to make them do that?
What one does CAN adversely affect others. Many insurance companies won't insure flood plain building at any price and banks won't lend money to do it. But for that to happen the flood plains have to be designated. So sue you say, and 25 years later one is still tied up in court trying to get a settlement, doesn't have the money to start over and still owes on the old mortgage. Nice isn't it.
Why are you so angry? Particularly at me?

I'm not necessarily angry at you, i'm tired of everyone being held at gunpoint to fix everyones damn problems.  Its not my responsibility nor your responsibility to fix or clean up after someone who is dumber than a rock.   It is NOT the governments responsibility to pick up their slack when they don't take care of their responsibility.  As far as your sue thema nd wait 25 years, thats the process. Either follow the set process or don't.  I could care less.  But don't come asking for a handout.

Quite frankly this nation has turned into nothing but a bunch of greedy lazy bastards sitting on their fat asses waiting on uncle sam to give them their cut of everyone elses hard work!   IF someone gets wiped out cause they built a 200 million dollar house on the beach and a hurricane wipes it out, SO SAD TOO BAD!  SHOULDA COULDA WOULDA and should have known better.  Next time find solid ground not sand.   Its been said 2000 years ago build your house on a rock, and not sinking sand.

The problem i have if you want to call it a problem is your sitting there justifying stupidity. Making excuses for the inexcusable.  WHY do you feel sorry for them?  It makes no sense.  Even the ANIMALS in this world have better sense than those people.  And if they don't, they die.

Srkruzich - that's good for sure.  Hope Diane will catch on.

Hey, can't you read? I specifically said I DO NOT believe in Federal flood insurance! Why do you think I'm feeling sorry for anyone?
Where do you get off putting words in my mouth?
We had two local young men drown during Irene. Very sad. I feel bad for their families but it was their own fault. Now should I go to the funeral and stand up and say that?
It cost the police, the water rescue teams and the Hockessin Fire Company hours of time trying to back track their activities, find their car, back track their cell phone activity and try to guess where they had gone.  Their families were frantic! People didn't even know where to start looking. They just didn't come home the night of the hurricane.
Ya think that doesn't have an emotional impact on people just because those young men were stupid and apparently from the shallow end of the gene pool?
Kansas has tornadoes, yet you live there.  Can you even get insurance? Does Kansas accept Federal disaster aid? If so, why? Remember this conversation started because Ron Paul ,who you all supposedly think is great, stated that there are places where people shouldn't be allowed to build. That's Gov't intervention! I heard him say it myself. I was surprised because I like how he thinks on a lot, but not all things.
Red, you just don't understand me do ya.....TOO BAD!

I understand you.  You've probably been indoctrinated since Kindergarten.  You even call yourself a moderate, don't you?

Diane Amberg

Yup ,I even went to the Methodist Church Sunday School most every week and learned the real Golden Rule, not the one that says "do to others before they can do to you."  It's also interesting that you makes sure nobody knows ANYTHING about you! You could be a serial killer or a pedophile for all anyone really knows. You only know about me what I've shared, and that's about 5%. Perhaps I'll vote the Republican presidential candidate next time too and see what they can do, and NO EXCUSES about failing at it.

When anger and frustration bears the fruit of bitterness, it's sad.
