largest army in the world.*

*More than in France and Germany combined.*

*These men deployed to the woods of a single American state to hunt with
firearms, and no one was killed.*

*That number pales in comparison to the 750,000 who hunted the woods of
Pennsylvania and Michigan 's 700,000 hunters, all of whom have now returned
home.*

*Toss in a quarter million hunters in West Virginia and it literally
establishes the fact that*

*The hunters of those four states alone would comprise the largest army in
the world.*

*America will forever be safe from foreign invasion with that kind of
home-grown firepower.*

Pardon my ignorance and you know I'm not for gun control, but when has it ever been suggested that the typical hunting rifle be banned?  It would never pass. I must have missed something.

It has been tried and retried and beat several times Diane.

And besides... the  post wasn't about banning hunting rifles.. It was to point out that we as hunters/gun owners are within ourselves.. a well armed militia..

I totally understand that. I was referring to your last line that's all. I can't imagine hunting weapons ever successfully being banned or even successfully controlled except perhaps for state requirements for education on use and safety.

And that's just the tip of the iceberg.  Most official troops have one or two firearms, at best.  Imagine what the average, per capita, numbers of arms there are among the private citizens in this country.  Almost sorta comforting when you think about it.... unless you're a lib progressive who really believes that guns, not people, do the killing.

Speaking of state requirements for gun safety and such---the way our Hunter Safety requirements are, are a bunch of BS. you take a young'n that has grown up shooting, hunting and trapping but before he gets a license he has to pass the Hunter Safety Coarse ---then you take some ol geezer from the city who has never so much as shot a BB gun and the only thing he knows about wildlife is feeding the humming birds in his back yard---then he decides to go deer hunting---goes buys himself a high power---finds out from the salesman which end the bullet comes out of---and off to find Bambi he goes. If one has to take the coarse, then all should take it---or just forget the whole thing.
