This was on facebook this morning. I thought it was deep, profound, and oh so true! What say ye!

Rodney Lay Jr. The next time a politician speaks, or the next time you hear some person say, "The government should do, pay for, or take care of THAT", .... Remember these 5 sentences.

1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.

2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.

3. The government cannot give to anybody, anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.

4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it!

5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation.

Today, I want to make a difference.
Here I am Lord, use me!

Between the people who don't work or can't work and the working poor, and then the very top that gets out of it, only half this country pays taxes every year anyway.

jarhead

Don't know why they think us poor folks don't pay taxes. I'm as poor as a church mouse but I pay a lot of taxes-------for starters my 3 fishing boats require a lot of gas and the tax is high on petro----------my cigarettes? Check out how much tax I pay on them puppies-----and the sin tax I have to pay for my beer, whiskey , vodka and wine is plumb outrageous ---not to mention the sorry dogs tax the copious amounts of sugar I buy to make homemade wine. Too frigging hot & dry for a good crop of grasshoppers and you would need a backhoe to digs worms so what does a fisherman have left to do but buy bait----which you pay taxes on.
Now I'm all depressed so gonna go drink some TAXED beer  to calm down !! :)

larryJ

LOL--------hey, Jarhead, anybody with three boats ain't poor, unless they are all tied together with a roof over them.  And, you just keep up with all your desires and activities which, by the way you describe them, would make anybody poor.  But, you are correct by saying all of that does give one a headache......................pass the brew, bro.  (the taxes on the beer are on you.)

HELP!  I'm talking and I can't shut up!

I came...  I saw...  I had NO idea what was going on...

Diane Amberg

Uh huh, then we have to get into the difference between what one has to have and what one wants to have. That church mouse has nothing to complain about. ;D

jarhead

Larry I think you fail to see the quality of my fishing boats. My favorite, The Green Latrine--er-a---I mean The Crappie Queen was deemed "worthless" by the county appraiser so no taxes on it. The Bass Tracker I keep in mothballs because I don't want Ol Sarge to get too comfortable fishing because I would have to take him with me all the time.
And the 10 ft John boat w/ 2 hp motor ?? Let's just say when ol Sarge and me both get in it there aint room left for tackle boxes.
Diane,
The cold beer and cigarettes are both necessities. You ever sit all day in a boat with ol Sarge ? Talk--talk --talk until I want to whack him with the paddle and knock him out of the boat, then see how long he can hold his breath---with me sitting on his head !! Them smokes are what keeps me mellowed out. The beer ? Simple--it keeps me from getting dehydrated.

Diane Amberg

Sorry, never had the pleasure. If you think beer keeps you hydrated, ya got another think comin', but enjoy it anyway. Now as for the smokes, well enough said. :-X

larryJ

Okay, I had to look it up.  Most beer is anywhere from 95 to 98 percent water.  Enough for hydration.  It's the tiny bit of alcohol that dehydrates.  Simple math shows that you would have to drink a twelve-pack to stay suffeicently hydrated.  Right, Jarhead?
Either way, you can have problems with dehydration or simply fall out of the boat and drown.

(why am I asking a marine about simple math?  Note to self------you're an idiot.)

(Why am I posting in Politics------note to self..............see above.)

:-X :-X  We had a most beloved preacher here in Moline by the name of Ted Smith. He often preached about the difference between wants and needs, often directing his speech to his good natured wife. Of course not a one of us has ever forgotten these sermons since they did not publicly involve 'us', but each of us knew in his deep down gizzard that we could all do better in the wants and needs department. We lost this dear man to a heart attack following some serious chemotherapy for colon cancer. Everyone misses him still.  :'(
