John A. Hubbell, youngst son of Oliver and Delilah Hubbell, was born in Owen county, Indiana, October 13, 1856, and departed this life at Howard, Kansas, July 18, 1932 age 75 years, 9 months and 5 days.

He came to Kansas with his aged mother in 1884 and lived with her in this city till she passed away, a number of years ago.  He was the last of his family, his brothers and sisters preceding him in death. John Hubbell never married.  The funeral service was held at the grave, conducted by Rev. W. C. Chappell, Tuesday evening, July 19th, at 5 o'clock.
*****************************

John Hubbell was a quiet, peaceable man, saying little, attending to his own affairs.  After the death of his mother, he lived at different places, but never staying long away from Howard. For a number of years he performed days work, did odd jobs and for several years, delivered the Daily Star and Times to Howard readers.  For many years he turned The Courant's newpaper press until we put in an engine, and then he was our press feeder for quite a long term.  He was always faithful and dependable, until by reason of age and declining health he became unable to take regular work. John was ecentric, sensitive and sometimes "temperimental," but we always got along with him fine, and we truly mourn his passing.  He leaves a number of nephews, nieces and other relatives in this community.  Last Friday he suffered a paralytic stroke and became at once unconcious and gradually grew weaker until death relieved him Monday the 18th.
