Fredrick A. Depew, 92, of Grenola, Kansas, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2011 at Cumbernauld Village in Winfield, Kansas.  Born September 13, 1918 in Grenola, Kansas, he was the son of Loren and Ima Louise (Schrader) Depew. 

He was raised and received his education in Grenola, graduating from Grenola High School.  In 1942 he enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country in World War II.  He was honorably discharged and returned home in 1945.

Fred was united in marriage to Ruth Wade on August 21, 1950 in Grenola, Kansas.  The couple made their home in Grenola where Fred worked the land as a farmer.  Ruth preceded him in death on November 17, 1981.  On June 9, 1984, Fred marrried Rena Roebuck in Winfield, Kansas.  The couple enjoyed making crafts and selling them at craft shows.  Rena preceded him in death on October 10, 2006.

Fred was a member of GracePointe Assembly of God Church in Winfield and was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling.

His family includes his stepchildren, Larry Roebuck and wife, Beverly of Moline, Kansas, Elaine Osborn and husband, Ron of Emporia, Kansas, Linda White and husband, Ormond of Wichita, Kansas, and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents and wives, Fred was preceded in death by his brothers, Albert and Dwain Depew, and his stepson, Richard Roebuck. 

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the GracePointe Assembly of God Church, 7th and Harter, Winfield, Kansas.  Interment will follow at the Grenola Cemetery.  Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service, 4001 E. 9th, Winfield, Kansas 67156, on Tuesday afternoon, July 19, 2011 from 12:00 noon to 5;00 P.M.

Memorials have been established in Mr. Depew's name for the Grenola United Methodist Church or for the GracePointe Assembly of God Church.  Contributiohs may be made through the funeral home.
