Fay Hamar Thompson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Thompson, born at Howard, Kansas, July 12, 1907 was called from this life at the home of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Hamar at Milan, Kansas Saturday June 10, 1910 at the age of 2 years, 11 months, 6 days.

Although only a child she was loved by all who knew her.  She leaves to mourn her loss a father, mother and infant sister.  The remains were brought to Howard and laid to rest in Grace Lawn Cemetery on Monday June 20, 1910.

(Milan, Kansas appears to be 14 miles west of Wellington, Kansas.  I thought it odd that it took 10 days to bring this child back to Howard for burial.  Most of the burials were within two to three days of death.  This can make one wonder what that family went through losing their daughter while away from Howard, then having to get her back to Howard for burial.  Were they poor?  Were they unable to travel by train?  Was there a train?  How many days did it take to get from Milan to Howard by wagon?  These questions can only be pondered.)
