Loweta Marie (Bell) Hawkins, 71, of Pryor, Oklahoma,  was born June 10, 1935 in Vera, Oklahoma to Forest Edwin and Thelma Mae Bell.  She died November 2, 2006 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Loweta spent her early childhood in Tulsa and California.  She moved to a farm near Moline, Kansas in 1952.  She  married her classmate, James V. Hawkins, in 1953 and graduated from Moline High School in 1954.  As a wife to Jim for 53 years and a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she maintained a loving home and family environment.

She is survived by her husband, Jim, of the home; three daughters, Carol Matheny and husband ,Terry of Grandbury, Texas, Debra Daugherty of The Woodlands, Texas., Linda LaFayette and husband ,Charles of Columbia, Virginia.; one son, James Edwin Hawkins and wife, Sherrie of Gulf Shores, Alabama; mother and step-father, Dewitt and Thelma Downing of Pryor, Oklahoma; sisters.  Betty Leach and husband Don of Coffeyville, Kansas and Judy Rampey and husband, John of Glenpool, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild, numerous nieces and nephews, and special friends, H. D. and Joyce Mills of Clearwater, Kansas.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, November 7, 2006 at the Key Funeral Home in Pryor, Oklahoma.  The family suggests memorials be made to The American Cancer Society.
