John L. "Jack" Bowlby, age 69, of Belle Plaine, Kansas, passed away Thursday, January 13, 2011.  

Jack is survived by his mother, Mable Bowlby; his wife of 26 years, Nancy (Kent) Bowlby; his daughters, Karen Fuller and Cheri Gehlen; 5 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; his sister, Velma (Don) Howell; and 3 nephews.  He was preceded in death by his father, Jack O. Bowlby; his son, John Russell Bowlby; and his brother, Tom E. Bowlby.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 17, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family present from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Smith Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Road, Derby, Kansas.  Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at Smith Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with the American Heart Association, 3816 Paysphere Circle, Chicago, Illinois 60674.  Tributes may be left at www.smithfamilymortuaries.com.

Jack Bowlby was the husband of the former Nancy Kent who grew up in Moline, Kansas.
