Applesauce - Raisin Cake

From the Kitchen of Lois Morgan

1/4 cup shortening
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp cloves
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1  1/2 cups sugar
1  1/2 cups unsweetened applesauce
2 eggs
2 cups flour
1 tsp. soda
1 cup nuts
raisins
dash of salt

Cream shortening and spices.  Add sugar, applesauce and eggs.  Sift in flour and soda. Add nuts, raisins and salt.  Bake at 350 degrees, until it springs back at a touch.  Serve with thawed whipped topping.
