The Socialist Party candidate for President
of the US, Norman Thomas, said this in a
1944 speech,

"The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism.  But,
under the name of "liberalism", they will adopt every fragment of
the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist
nation, without knowing how it happened."
He went on to say,
"I no longer need to run as a Presidential Candidate for the
Socialist Party.
The Democrat Party has adopted our platform".

"Socialism Perhaps", No perhaps about it.  What the current Administration is trying to do goes much deeper than just Socialism.

I have no doubt that he viewed himself as a patriot...And yes, he might have had something there where the Commies were concerned.  However, in view of some of his activities, IMHO, he was not only misguided but a bit mentally ill...He had a real paranoia going that adversely effected the careers and lives of many people.

So he wasn't misguided by persecuting people for expressing themselves?  These people didn't possess a right to express themselves?  They had not committed a crime.  I don't understand your logic.

Red, does the phrase "witch hunt" ring a bell with you?  People are quick to jump on the bandwagon and demonize a certain group of people to hide the real culprits.  Here we are, talking about Gays, Socialists, Liberals, Muslims, Environmentalists and a whole host of people we don't agree with.   Combined, all these groups don't amount to 1/8th of our problems in this country.  

You want to talk about real problems?  lets talk about the way our government works and the two party system.  Lets talk about Corporations, Oligarchy, Stagnation of salaries, Lobbying, Trade policy, Foreign governments influencing our affairs, and the outsourcing of just about everything to other countries.

When people have jobs, then we can worry about abortion.  When our government isn't broke, then lets talk about Gays in the military.  When private corporations can no longer buy votes in congress, then we can talk about environmentalism.

I've said it once before, and I'll say it again.  The republican party and conservative movement have been hijacked.  Most of you have no idea what it means to be a conservative.  50 years ago, Being a conservative meant being anti-war.  It meant doing what it takes to ensure that people had good quality of life.  That included protecting the common man from the "giants of industry"

Don't take my word for it.  Listen to these speeches, Given by none other than Theodore Roosevelt, one of them right there in Kansas.





And of course the great Ron Paul



Right now, the conservative movement is being led by big corporations and foreign interests.  The Tea party and other right wing groups are being funded by the wealthy oligarchs, yet people follow them blindly.


WAKE UP
