Winifred Loretta Rader of Arkansas City, Kansas, formerly of Eureka, Kansas, died on Thursday, July 29, 2010 at Presbyterian Manor in Arkansas City at the age of 93.  Winnie was born November 8, 1916, the daughter of Benjamin H. and Ruth (Nucklos) Butler.

She was raised in the Tonovay area and graduated from Tonovay High School.  Later she graduated from cosmetology school before opening her own beauty shop in Eureka.  In the early 1940s, Winnie moved to Texas to be with Roy while he was stationed at Camp Hood.  

Winnie was married to Roy Woodrow Rader on August 32, 1943.  After the war, they moved back to Eureka where they resided for three years.  They moved to Piedmont, Kansas and later to the Rader family farm.  Roy preceded her in death on September 21, 1967.  In 1968, Winnie returned to Eureka where she began again as a beautician and became involved in the community.  Winnie was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Piedmont Study Club, Friendship Meals, a 4-H leader, member of the Greenwood County Hospital Auxiliary, the United Methodist Women, and the First United Methodist Church.

She is survived by one son, Randy and wife Karen Rader of Hudson, Wisconsin; three daughters, Beverly and husband J.T. Manuszak of Wichita, Kansas, Marlyn and husband Tim Karstetter of McPherson, Kansas, and Donna and husband Chuck Elliott of Greenwood, Missouri; twelve grandchildren, Jana and husband Graham Frazier, Jason and wife April Nittler, Danni and husband Bodie Wilson, Kori and husband Doug Bigge, Kim Karstetter, Kristi and husband Tad Hatfield, Matt and wife Rachel Karstetter, Ryan and wife Hope Rader, Eric Rader, Alex Rader, Chad and wife Kathy Elliott, and Stephanie and husband Matt Hopper; thirteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Marvin Butler of Eureka, Kansas; and two sisters, Viola Swisher of Eureka, Kansas and Virginia Anderson of Houston, Texas.  

Winnie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four brothers, Louis, Ben, Leo, and Raymond Butler; and one sister, Alpha Hall.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 2, 2010 at Koup Family Funeral Home in Eureka, Kansas with Pastor Robert Bull of the Riverside Christian Church of Wichita, Kansas officiating.  Interment will follow in Piedmont Cemetery, Piedmont, Kansas.  In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to the First United Methodist Church.  Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 595, Eureka, Kansas 67045, which is in charge of service arrangements.
