C. E. GILMAN, farmer, P.O. Moline, was born in Cook County, Ill., in 1848, was raised in Dalas County, Iowa, living there until July 1865, when he went to cass County, Mo., where he engaged in farming, and in 1871 he emigrated to Kansas and took a claim on Section 4, Town 31 and Range 10.  This place is well watered by Wild Cat Creek, with some timber along its banks.  He has eighty acres under the plow, and has a hedge nearly around the farm. He has a fine apple and peach orchard, has 3,000 maple and cottonwood trees, good frame house 14 x 24, wing 12 x 14, is engaged in stock raising and is doing well. He is a good citizen and neighbor. he was married in 1868, to Miss Mary Devaney, of Cass County, Mo.  They have five children--John, Cora, Mary, Hattie and Benjamin.
