Map of Small Towns within Elk County

This is a map taken from skyways that indicates where the small towns (ghost towns)in Elk County of yesteryear were located.  There are many who are not familiar with this data.

So where was Boston located? (It's mentioned in the John A. Oliphant biography.)

The location was five or six miles south and a little west of where Moline is now.  Not a trace of Boston is left.  If I remember right, I think I have the part about Boston posted in the article on Pioneer Days on the Good Old Days board.  Which reminds me, that I need to get more of that very lengthy article posted.

I could be wrong (but probably not) Boston was west of K-99 highway about 1 mile give or take and on the south side of the road which would put it in Chautauqua County.  I believe that Larry  Roebuck owns the land where Boston used to be.

According to this very lengthy article, the town of Boston was located near the geographical center of Howard county in order that when it got the county seat, it would be convenient for the greatest number of inhabitants of the then big county.  So it was probably sitting almost on top of the now county line or else pretty close to it.
