Otho Elliott, son of Samuel and Nancy Elliott, was born in Champaign County, Illinois on January 21, 1871, and died at his farm home north of Howard, Kansas, on January 3, 1944, at the age of 71 years, 11 months and 12 days.  He came to Kansas with his parents in 1879.  They settled in the PawPaw school district on a claim.  Since coming to Kansas he has spent his entire life in the community north of Howard and resided for the past 32 years on his farm north of town.

He was united in marrige to Hallie Tesh in 1904.  He leaves to mourn his going, his faithful wife; one daughter; Aline Elliott, Normal, Illinois; one son, Erwin of Howard; two step-daughters, Mrs. E. G. Rickman, Dean, Montana, and Mrs. C. B. Westwood, Eureka, Kansas; two sisters, Mrs. Nile Hansson, Chicago, Illinois; and Mrs. A. L. Frailey, Howard; two grandchildren, Barbara Aline and Donald Ray Elliott and his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Erwin Elliott.

Funeral services were held from the Moon Funeral Chapel, Thursday, January 6, 1944, at 3:00 p.m., conducted by Rev. Merritt W. Faulkner.  Music was a duet by Mrs. Phillip Taylor and Ben A. Eby, and a solo by Mr. Eby, accompanied by Mrs. C. A. Barnett.  Pall bearers were, Henry Kling, Ned Smith, Leon Garison, Louis Hebb, Frank Simons, Curtis Rutherford.  Interment was in Grace Lawn cemetery, Howard, Kansas
