This probably won't do the same for a lot of you as it did me, but for those of us who grew up in the "wheat side" of the Wheat State, this gives me thrills and chills!  This video was made by a friend of my siblings.  Turn up the volume!

LOL! I loved the video but could have done with more tractor and less drama! Oh well, it's a generation thing I guess.  ;D BTW, my sinus problem is just about gone, I have problems with wheat must and dust. It is all cut and most of the stubble burned, and now I can breath!

Less drama???  That's what harvest is about (at least in MY family)!!!   ;D
Harvest is the pinnacle of the farming season.  Everything else stops and revolves around getting the crop out of the field.  Family members come from near and far to "assist" or just watch.  The guy who filmed this is the husband of the girl who's family is in the video... and I think he's a "city kid" so this probably is a lot of drama for him!  I have some city cousins who think the same thing.

6dogs; I feel for you!  When I was young, I actually had to take a job in town during the summer because I couldn't help on the farm during harvest.  Even taking lunch to the field was hell on my allergies.  When I was really young (less than driving age, but old enough to drive the grain cart... which was probably 8 or 10) I did have to help, and either had to wear a dust mask all the time or just suffer through it and lay on the cool tile floor with a fan on me when I got home at night.

Oh Tobina   I LOVED -  LOVED -  LOVED IT !!!  I was born and raised a farm girl, even though here in Elk county we didn't raise wheat back then, I was in the fields all summer and when it was haying time, it was work all day - come home and help milk 20 cows by hand and start out with the milking the next morning --- same o, same o  But I am still that same farm ( not a girl anymore ) female.

Thanks for sharing.  Video was well done!!

What a funny video!  I liked the application of the musical choices...Hans Zimmer has always been one of my favorites.

Tobina, I hope you don't mind...I watched the video and thought it was perfect for the county Farm Bureau's Facebook page, so I pasted the link there. Thanks for sharing!

Lynn; sounds good!  I'm sure this guy will appreciate more hits on his video!
I forgot to mention that I think this guy also works for Ft. Riley and does video editing for them.  I didn't see any other videos posted under his name... I'm curious to see The Harvester part One!

Loved the video, it did bring back memories.  We followed wheat harvest with a crew from Argonia, KS when I was about 12 and 13.  Really loved it but allergies were really bad.  We started out in Arizona in early spring and then to Kansas and on to Montana and Canada and then back to Arizona for the winter.  We were just happy to be off of the ranch we had been on in Arizona, 40 miles from nowhere.

I grew up in wheat country and still find it interesting.  Watching it come up in the fall, then watching for it to green up in the spring, head out and get ready for harvest.  That was one of the things I missed when we moved to Elk County.  No one grew wheat then.  This year I was watching a field on 99 a few miles north of Moline.  Didn't get to see it ripen, but it sure looked good the last time I saw it.  A nephew tells me the harvest around Wichita wasn't as good as usual, but I think they were expecting that.

The editing and video was excellent. I loved watching it.. Bet they had a ball making it.
