Hannah Morss Snell was born in Indiana April 30, 1836 and died in Howard, Kansas, March 8, 1910.  She was married to Jacob Snell in Illinois.  They moved to this, which was then Howard county in 1871, bringing two boys, John and George with them in a covered wagon, locating on a claim northwest of Howard on which the Rock Creek school house is located.  Two more sons, Charles and Dan and a daughter Tillie were born to them while here in Elk county.

The deceased had been feeble for several years and was expecting the death summons.  She often said she was tired and wanted to go home to rest.  She said she was prepared for death and the judgment.  The funeral service was conducted at the residence in Howard by Rev. Anderson.
