Donald R. Jordan, 78, of El Dorado, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008 at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital.  Services were Saturday, Jan. 19 at 2 p.m. at the First Christian Church in El Dorado.  Interment followed in the Sunset Lawns Cemetery, El Dorado.  Masonic Rites were conducted at the church following the funeral service.  Visitation was held with the family on Friday evening, Jan. 18 from 6-7:30 p.m. at Carlson Funeral Home.

Don was born Nov. 5, 1929 in Kansas City, Mo. to Willard Glenn and Vera Mae (Barker) Jordan.  He was raised in Grenola and graduated from Grenola High School.  Don served in the United States Marines during the Korean Conflict.

On June 7, 1953 Don married Betty Huntington at the First Christian Church.  The couple resided in El Dorado throughout their married life.  He worked for the Texaco refinery for 38 years, retiring in 1991.

He was a member of the First  Christian Church as well a Patmon Masonic Lodge in  El Dorado.  His volunteer work included prison ministry, delivering Meals on Wheels, Shriner van driver to the St. Louis hospital, librarian volunteer at Oil Hill school, Sunday School teacher at First Christian Church, Women's Shelter volunteer and the Bluestem Community Credit Union, president.  He was a member of Knife and Fork and the Shrine.

Don is survived by his wife Betty of the home, daughters, Dana of Towanda and Christie of El Dorado; his sisters, Ethel Steward of Denver, Colo., Glenna Chamberlin of Lincoln, Neb., and Pat (Ralph) Murrell of Winfield.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Jordan and Carl Jordan; and a sister, Margaret Mathis.
