Marcia,

Was the title of this article "Gas Explosion at Severy"?  I don't think Smith & Goodwin ever had a store in Severy.  I may be wrong,
but I think it was always on Main Street (Wabash) in Howard.  Of course this was long before my dad was associated with it, but I have never heard that it was ever located anywhere else.

QuoteIt seems as if there was a leak in the gas pipe and someone hunting for it found it with a lighted match

Gee, I never thought of searching for a gas leak with a lit match. Now I know why.

Well, if you would just use a safety match....... ;D
