May 2, 1963

The Howard FFA chapter held its 29th annual banquet on Friday, April 19.  President Eldon DeWitt called the meeting to order.  Gary Wells gave the invocation.  The meal was served by the members sisters and friends. The food was prepared by mothers of the FFA members.

The FFA officers gave the opening ceremony, then the FFA members introduced their guests.  Larry Dilli presented Nancy Lord with a chapter sweetheart jacket.  The creed was given by Gregory Avers.

Tom Malcon of Arkansas City gave a talk on agriculture and youth in agriculture.  The Howard high school boy's quartet furnished the entertainment.

Awards were presented to the following members:  Farm Safety, Eldon DeWitt; Farm Mechanics, Eldon DeWitt; Crops, Vincent Nelson; Public Speaking, Gregory Avers; Dairy, Mike Harrod; Livestock, Dale Barnaby; Star Green Hand, Max Perkins; Star Chapter Farmer, Larry Dilli.  President Eldon DeWitt presented honorary awards to Estil DeWitt and J. W. Eby.  Don Cummings gave a revue of the chapter accomplishments for the year.---Reporter.

I am wondering about whether it was really Larry Dilli that presented Nancy Lord with the sweetheart jacket, or if that should have read Gary Wells presented her with the jacket.  Nancy Lord and Gary Wells were married while she was still in high school, and Gary was in the Navy (I think it was).

It was probably Larry Dilli as each member in FFA have their jobs to do.  Just guessing.
