Kendee Fawn Heck, age 65, of Oskaloosa, Kansas, passed away July 8, 2024 at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas.  She was born August 30, 1958 to Kenneth and Deanna McCullick.

Kendee spent her childhood years in Minneapolis and Delphos, Kansas where she was an active 2nd generation 4-Her and a member of FHA.  She graduated from Minneapolis High School in 1976 and then earned her degree in Education from Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, Kansas.

Kendee started dating the love of her life, Alan E. Heck in 1979.  They married in Minneapolis, Kansas on May 22, 1982.  She was a supportive military wife and a devoted mother of three children and also earned her dual Master's degree from Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas.

After earning her Master's degrees, the family moved to Elk County, Kansas where she and Alan lived for 30 years.  She was a speech pathologist and later Co-Special Education Director for Chautauqua and Elk County Special Education Services for 27 years while also making pizza in the evenings for many years.  She was an active 4-H leader and constant supporter of her children's interests while also participating in church activities and Delta Kappa Gamma.  She was a proud grandma of seven.

Kendee and Alan moved to Oskaloosa, Kansas in 2019 to be closer to their grandchildren where they kept busy attending grandchildren activities and hosting sleepovers.  Kendee loved holidays.  She and Alan decorated extensively for each holiday.  They threw epic Halloween parties where she took great pride in the number of pumpkins used (135 at one point) and the number of trick-or-treaters who received full-sized candy bars.  Later she orchestrated yearly grandkid pumpkin patch visits.  Her themed sugar cookies and insightful gift giving brought great joy.  Kendee loved animals and often kept a menagerie accompanied with story-book worthy escapades, but she screamed at frogs and snakes.  She generously shared her creativity by making cards, decorations, and crafts while fostering her grandchildren's creativity. Words cannot express how much she will be missed.

Kendee is survived by her husband of 42 years, Alan E. Heck; her children, Seely Jo'Ann (Brian) McCarty and children, Kendee and Thelonious, Kendalan Janelle (Thomas) Cooper and children, Caleb and Paige, and Garrison David (Alexandra) Heck and children, Timothy, Killian, and William; her sister, Kala Johnston and fiance Gerald Johnson; her brother, Ken McCullick; her sister-in-law, Vanda (James) Heil; and many nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her parents and her nephew, Michael McCullick.

Funeral services were held on July 15, 2024 at Oskaloosa United Methodist Church.  Cremation Care is planned with inurnment to take place at the Delphos City Cemetery in Delphos, Kansas at a later date.  Memorials are suggested to the Kendee F. Heck memorial fund in care of the Barnett Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 602, Oskaloosa, Kansas 66066.
