Howard William Voigtlander, age 83, of Grenola, Kansas, passed away July 17, 2023.  He was born August 18, 1939 in Winfield, Kansas to William and Marie (McClaskey) Voigtlander.

Howard moved with his family to Grenola, Kansas when he was a teenager, and it became his home for the rest of his life.  He grew up with one brother, Henry, and graduated from Grenola High School with the Class of 1958.

In 1973, Howard married Rosann Marie Wells.  Together they raised three children and were happily married for 45 years until her passing in 2019.  Howard spent most of his time on the farm where he loved to be, but he also liked to spend his free time going to auctions and going to Winfield a couple of times a week just to visit with people.  He loved to watch tractor shows on RFD-TV and was a member of the K & O Steam and Gas Engine Association.

Howard's family was very important to him, and he enjoyed going to high school ballgames to watch his kids.  He enjoyed the atmosphere so much that he kept attending the games long after his kids had graduated.  He continued going until his health wouldn't let him go any more.

Howard is survived by his children, Andy Voigtlander and Bill Voigtlander of Grenola, Kansas and Rita Voigtlander and spouse, Marie Gorton of Winfield, Kansas; and his granddaughter, Angel Voigtlander.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Rosann, and his brother, Henry.

Mass oc Christian Burial will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Moline, Kansas.  Rosary will be recited at 8:30 a.m.  Inurnment will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery in rural Chautauqua County, Kansas.

Memorial contributions in honor of Howard can be made to the K & O Steam and Gas Engine Association or the West Elk Booster Club.  Contributions can be mailed to or left with the funeral home.  Countryside Funeral Home, 206 E. Washington, Howard, Kansas 67349 has been entrusted with arrangements.
