Billy Lynn Stewart. a resident of Severy, Kansas, passed away on September 10, 2021 at Cox Medical Center in Springfield, Missouri.  He was born on December 10, 1955 to Marvin Lee and Mamie Louise (Davis) Stewart.

Billy graduated from West Elk High School in Howard, Kansas with the Class of 1974 and attended Butler Community College in El Dorado, Kansas.  On October 15, 1993, he married Virginia Langston.

Billy grew up learning the value of hard work and family.  He was a fourth-generation farmer and learned the cattle trade from his grandfather and traditions carried down from his father.  He was a hard worker, a loving husband, and a loyal friend.  He was a simple man, honest, and he was raised in a generation of men where a handshake is a code of honor and integrity.  He will be sorely missed.

Billy is survived by his wife, Virginia Stewart of the home; his children, Christopher (Trena) Stewart and Chrystal Stewart, both of Joplin, Missouri; his stepchildren, Carolynn (Eric) Glasford of San Jose, Illinois, Amy (Scott) Vick of Canton, Illinois, and Jenny (Larry)Byrd of South Pekin, Illinois; his grandchildren, Stephanie Irby, Marvin Irby, Kaitlyn Vick, Jessica Vick, Joshua Vick, Madison Vick, Jordan Lemons, and Garret Byrd; and one great-grandson, Jedison Schubert.  He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Harold Stewart; and an uncle, Francis Stewart.

Billy was laid to rest on September 23, 2021.  A private service will be held at a later date for his wife, friends, and neighbors.  Memorials have been suggested to Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka, Kansas for COVID equipment or to the family to assist with medical expenses.  Gifts may be mailed to or left with the funeral home.  Services have been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home, 206 E. Washington, Howard, Kansas 67349.
