Reta Marlene Strotkamp, 74, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away March 17, 2021.  She was born in Eureka, Kansas, the daughter of Carl Scott, Sr. and Mary (Shipman) Houston.

Reta grew up in Greenwood County, Kansas and graduated from Howard High School in Howard, Kansas with the Class of 1964.  She led a full life as a homemaker, aircraft instrument worker, over-the-road CDL truck driver, cosmetics consultant, and owned a successful 21-year business in Augusta, Kansas, retiring as a Farmers Insurance Agent earning numerous high performer and regional sales awards. 

Reta loved shopping for sparkly, blingy, comfy shoes and driving shiny Cadillacs.  She loved to bake sweets and cakes and make candies.  She was highly skilled with a needle and thread and knew her way around a sewing machine making lovely quilts and baby blankets. 

Reta is survived by her husbqnd of 32 years, Larry Strotkamp of Wichita, Kansas; her daughter, Tracie (Edwin) Dean-Fetzer of Wichita, Kansas; her son, Todd (Julie) Sowerby of Clinton, Missouri; her sisters, Marcia "Janie" Elliott of Howard, Kansas and Cheryl Tyson of Eureka, Kansas; and her grandchildren, Melissa (Patrick) Roach, Celan and Cole Dean, Emily, Ashleigh, and Gabrielle Fetzer, and Destin and Arwen Roach.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Carl Scott, Jr.

Family and friends are invited to attend a service to be held at Downing & Lahey East Mortuary, 6555 E. Central, Wichita, Kansas on Friday, April 9, 2021 at 10:00 a.m.  A private burial service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Eureka, Kansas.  In lieu of flowers, please plant some and grow some tasty tomatoes and share with your friends.
