I didn't even know that there was an Elk County until we moved here in 1947.  At that time I was 17 and the only thing I was interested in was the northeast part of the county and north to Piedmont.  I never became acquainted with the southern part of the county until many years later.  My late husband could probably have told you all about that part of the county, but, alas, it is too late to ask him.
