(from the Moline newspaper  Aug 26, 1910)

Thomas Hogan died at his home, Elk Falls, Kan August 23rd.  Mr Hogan was born in 1831 in the parish of Ballywilliam, county Tipperary Ireland.  He was married to Mary Hayes, February 7th 1869.  In the year 1870 Mr and Mrs Hogan emigrated to America and made Chanute their home for three years.  In 1883 he moved to Elk Falls where he made his home until his death.

Mr Hogan died as he lived.  He lived a holy life, being a lifelong, conscientious practical and a faithful of the the Catholic church, and the last sentence he tried to frame on his dying lips was the response to the Litary of the Dying.  He was fortified with all the rites of the church and was perfectly rational to the last.  He is survived by Mrs Hogan and five children.  May he rest in peace.
