HOWARD - Vivian Zula Lanning, 90, a former resident of Howard, died Tuesday at Monroe Nursing Home in Jay, Okla.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Zimmerman Funeral Home with Pastor Robin Haines of the Flint Hills Assembly of God officiating.  Burial will be in Grace Lawn Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Memorials are suggested to the Flint Hills Assembly of God and they may be left with Zimmerman Funeral Home.

Mrs. Lanning was born on April 1, 1916 at Buffalo, Mo., to George and Roxie (Glispey) Wing.  She attended schools in Collinsville, Okla., and Howard.

On Feb. 14, 1934 she married Oscar Lanning at Howard, and he died in 1993.

Mrs. Lanning was a member of the Nazarene Church but had attended other churches in later years.

Survivors include a son, Dale Lanning, Greenfield, Mo; a daughter, Esther Henderson, Grove, Okla.; a brother, Vernon Wing, Visalia, Calif.; a sister, Esther Barlow, Choctaw, Okla.; 11 grandchildren, 24 great grandchidlren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Vivian Zula Lanning died Tuesday, jan. 16, 2007 at the Monroe Nursing Home in Jay, Okla.  She was 90 years of age and a former resident of Howard.  Vivian was born on April 1, 1916 at Buffalo, Mo. to George Alley and Roxie Lucy May (Glispey) Wing.

At nine months of age, she moved with her family to Collinsville, Okla.  In 1928, after the death of her mother, the family moved to Howard where Vivian lived until moving to Jay, Okla. in 1994, to be near her daughter and family.  Vivian attended school in Collinsville and Howard, receiving an 8th grade education.

On Feb. 14, 1934, Vivian married Oscar Lanning at Howard and to this union were born two daughters, Evelyn and Esther and a son, Dale.  Vivian was a devoted wife and mother, making a home for her family in Howard for all of their 60 years of marriage.

She enjoyed visiting with family and friends, was an avid reader and enjoyed taking care of her flowers, was a member of the Nazarene Church and later attended the Wesleyan Church and Flint Hills Assembly of God in Howard.  Vivian recently attended the Delaware Baptist Church in Oklahoma.

She is survived by her son, Dale and his wife Quesqueya of Greenfield, Mo.; her daughter, Esther Henderson and her husband Carl of Grove, Okla.; a brother, Vernon Wing of Visalila, calif.; a sister, Esther Barlow of Choctaw, Okla; eleven grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband Oscar, in 1993; a daughter Evelyn, in 1950; her parents; a brother, Ollie; two sisters, Bulah and Opal and one great-granddaughter.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Jan. 23, at the Zimmerman Funeral Home with Pastor Robin Haines of the Flint Hills Assembly of God officiating.  Judy Lannins sang "I Can Only Imagine" and Lloyd G. Zimmerman sang "What A Friend We Have In Jesus".  The casket bearers were Matthew Dole, Michael Henderson, Dana Lanning, Daniel Lanning, David Lanning and Donald Lanning.  Interment was held at Grace Lawn Cemetery in Howard.  A memorial has been established with the Flint Hills Assembly of God in Howard.  Contributions may be left with the funeral home.  The funeral arrangements are being made with the Zimmerman Funeral Home of Howard.
