Doris Fern Robinson of Bella Vista, Arkansas, passed from this life on July 14, 2014 at The Cottages in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  Death occurred from natural causes after a long and happy life.  Doris was born September 2, 1921 in Moline, Kansas, the fifth of six children born to Ernest "Bud" DeMoss and Alta Robinson DeMoss.

Doris grew up in the Moline area.  She attended country schools until she reached high school and then attended Moline High School.  It was there that Leroy Robinson first caught her eye.  After high school, she attended beauty school in Coffeyville, Kansas.  With the outbreak of World War II, she moved to Wichita, Kansas and worked two jobs.  During the day, she styled and cut hair and then worked the evening shift at Boeing.  Throughout the war, she corresponded with Leroy who was in the Army in Europe.  Once he returned from Europe, they became an "exclusive couple" and married not too long after.

They began working oil leases around the Sedan, Kasnas area after their marriage.  Their son, Ed, was born in 1950.  They moved to Winfield, Kansas where both of them were employed by the Sonner Bruner Company.  They later got jobs  with Phillips Petroleum Company and moved to Bartlesville, Oklahoma.  They often met for lunch although they didn't work in the same departments.  Weekends would find them pursuing one of their hobbies.  At first, it was fishing, but eventually golf came to be the hobby of choice.  Ed is a musician and has played in bands for many years.  Doris and Leroy would venture out to one of his band's gigs, and Ed's friends were amazed at his parents' jitterbug moves.  Although they loved golfing weekends, they always found time to spend with family.  Nothing thrilled their nieces and nephews more than spending time with Doris and Leroy.

After they retired from Phillips, they moved to Hot Springs, Arkansas, followed by a move to Bentonville, Arkansas.  They spent the remainder of their years together in Bentonville gardening and playing golf.  After Leroy's death in 1992, Doris moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas where she and her sister, Evelyn, were next-door neighbors.  Eventually, Doris's health declined, and she was in need of daily assistance.  She then moved to Grove, Oklahoma to be near her niece, Linda Swindler.

Doris and Leroy were inseparable as a couple.  Doris will be remembered for her love for Leroy and Ed and her family.  She will also be remembered for her love of life and golf.

Doris is survived by her only child, Ed Robinson of Tulsa, Oklahoma; three sisters, Irene Helton of Caney, Kansas, Evelyn Eates of Bella Vista, Arkansas, and Jean Kiser of Bellflower, California; and many nieces, nephews, and a host of lifelong friends.

Celebration of Life services were held on July 21, 2014 at the Potts Chapel in Caney, Kansas.  Interment followed at Ames Chapel in Elk County, Kansas with Pastor Brad Sanders officiating.  The family has suggested memorials to Physicians Choice Hospice for taking wonderful care of Doris in her final days.  Donors may also contribute to an organization of their choice designating "in memory of Doris Robinson".  Donations may be sent to Potts Chapel, 107 N. State, Caney, Kansas 67333.
