Richard Dale "Dick" Dodson, age 81, of Fall River, Kansas, died Friday, December 27, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family and his two loyal dogs.  Dick was born December 7, 1932 in Wichita, Kansas, the son of William Franklin and Bess Alimieda (Crowe) Dodson.

After high school, Dick joined the U.S. Army and served from September 1952 until 1960 during which time he served in the Korean War.  After serving his country, Dick went to work for Cessna in Wichita.  After 40 years, he retired from Cessna as the Superintendent of the Light Single Engine Division.

On March 22, 1985 in Newkirk, Oklahoma, Dick married Barbara Cranor.  Dick and Barbara were married for 29 years, and she survives at the home they built together.  Dick enjoyed hunting and fishing, working in his garden, and doing yardwork.  He enjoyed sitting on his front porch watching their animals and all of the hummingbirds.  Dick gave a helping hand to Barbara with raising their goats, llamas, and other animals around the farm, but most of all, Dick enjoyed being with his family and friends.

Dick earned his 32nd degree in the Scottish Rite and was a noble of the Mystic Midian Shrine of Wichita, Kansas.  Upon his passing, he was a member of the Greenwood Lodge of Fall River, Kansas with 44 years of membership.  Dick was very proud of his membership with the Masonic brotherhood.

Including his wife, Barbara, Dick is survived by his son, Justin Clark of Fall River, Kansas; his daughters, Jennifer Christensen and husband, Tim of Independence, Kansas and Angelyn Ncholson and husband, Stephen of Lubbock, Texas; his son-in-law, Rick Hillier of Savannah, Georgia; his sister, Betty Ann Dodson of New York City, New York; three grandchildren, Jonas Clark of Plano, Texas, Abby Shepherd and husband, Scott of Kansas City, Missouri, and Tina Steinwinder of Georgia; and his companion dogs, Oscar and Betty Ann of the home.  Dick was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Sharon Dale Hillier; and his brothers, William and Rolan Dodson.

Cremation has been requested.  A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 4, 2013 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Bacani Plaza Banquet Room, 2404 E. Washington, Fredonia, Kansas.  Memorials have been suggested to the Kansasyhec.org to promote outdoor skills and safety training in young hunters and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.  Online condolences may be left at www.countrysidefh.com.  Services have been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home, 420 S. 20th Street, Fredonia, Kansas66736.
