Wayne Edwin Brougher of Eureka, Kansas passed away on February 23, 2016 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas at the age of 81.  He was born November 21, 1934 in Elk County, northwest of Howard, Kansas, the son of Fern Walter and Thelma (Hon) Brougher.

Wayne was raised in rural Elk County, Kansas and graduated from Piedmont High School.  On June 12, 1954, he was united in marriage to Kay Jackson in Howard, Kansas.  He served in the Army National Guard where he served with honor and dignity.  The couple made their home in Eureka, and Wayne began ranching.  He loved to work with cattle and was a frequent buyer and seller.  Over the years, he raised a lot of cattle and had cattle in feed lots in several different states.  He was a member of the Howard United Methodist Church. 

Wayne is survived by his wife, Kay of Eureka, Kansas; his sister, Barbara Gaffney of Augusta, Kansas; and two nephews, Brett and wife, Deanna Gaffney of Wichita, Kansas and Larry and wife, Stella Bolt of Derby, Kansas.  He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Betty Bolt; and one niece, Sandra Bolt.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 26, 2016 at Koup Family Funeral Home in Eureka, Kansas with Pastor Warren Olson of the Hamilton United Methodist Church officiating.  Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Eureka.  Visitation hours are set from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at the funeral home. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church.  Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, 121 N. Oak Street, Eureka, Kansas 677045,  which is in charge of arrangements.
