Victor Vern Vaughan, age 85, passed away Friday, June 21, 2013 from a prolonged battle with pancreatic cancer.  He was born on May 3, 1928 at home in Grenola, Kansas, the son of Willie H. and Jewel (Appleby) Vaughan.

Victor worked for Cessna, Carl Graham Glass, and Learjet where he retired in 1994.  He was a Korean Conflict veteran and was discharged as a Staff Sergeant in 1956.  He was a proud member of both the American Legion and the VFW.  He served many roles with the Korean War Veterans Alliance.  Victor was a lifetime farmer in Chautauqua and Cowley counties in Kansas.  He married Virginia Kathryn Vaughan on August 27, 1995 in Winfield, Kansas. 

He is survived by his beloved wife, Virginia; his brother, Willie H. Vaughan of Winfield, Kansas; sons, Victor Jr. (Cheryl) Vaughan and Lonnie (Diane) Vaughan, all of Wichita, Kansas; daughter, Ginger (Wayne) Bromley of Colorado Springs, Colorado; stepdaughter, Kristie (Steve) Shoemake of Jenks, Oklahoma; stepson, Aaron Smith of Augusta, Kansas; 12 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild.  Victor is preceded in death by his parents, Willie H. and Jewel Vaughan; his brothers, Vance Leon, Haldean, Jay, Wayne, and Max; sister, Jean Pack; and granddaughter, Tiffany Ann Vaughan.

Services were held at the Westwood Presbyterian Church in Wichita, Kansas followed by graveside services at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery in Winfield, Kansas.  Memorials may be sent to Harry Hynes Hospice, 313 S.
