Gladys Irene Jones, age 90, a resident of Elk Falls, Kansas, passed away Friday, March 15, 2013 at Newman Regional Hospital in Emporia, Kansas.  She was born on January 23, 1923 in Kiowa, Kansas, the daughter of Olan and Martha Zella (Pratt) Black.

In 1940, Gladys married Lloyd Buchanan in Marion, Kansas, and they later divorced.  In 1948, she married Roland Blackburn in Parsons, Kansas, and they later divorced.  On January 23, 1964, Gladys was united in marriage to Rowland Jones in Longton, Kansas, and together they made their home in rural Elk Falls, Kansas on the farm where Rowland was raised.  Gladys worked as a hairdresser.  She also drove a school bus, worked in the Longton Grocery Store, and worked in local day cares.  Gladys was a member of the Elk Falls United Methodist Church, Order of Eastern Star, Elk Valley Club, Jolly Dozen Club, and the Cove HDU.

Gladys is survived by three daughters, Dianna Morrison of Franklin, Kansas, Jane Wassom of Longton, Kansas, and Rowlinda Justus of Emporia, Kansas; one son, Glen Blackburn of Longton, Kansas; 16 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 42 great-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rowland Jones; one daughter, Iown Adamson; and two brothers, Newton Black and Raymond Black.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at the Elk Falls United Methodist Church in Elk Falls, Kansas with Pastor Dena Allison officiating.  Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 19, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Countryside-Zimmerman Funeral Home in Howard, Kansas.  Interment will be in the Elk Falls Cemetery.  Family suggests  contributions be made to the Elk Falls United Methodist Church or the Ladonia Chapter #243 Order of Eastern Star and may be left with the funeral home.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.countrysidefh.com.  Arrangements are under the direction of Countryside-Zimmerman Funeral Home, 206 E.
