Virginia Ruth Bryan, age 80, of Moline, Kansas, passed away Thursday, December 15, 2011 at the Sedan City Hospital in Sedan, Kansas.  She was born on July 15, 1931 in Longton, Kansas, the daughter of Arthur Cleveland and Mary Drusilla (Bacus) Ferry.

Virginia attended school in Howard, Kansas and later in Moline.  On December 23, 1949, Virginia was united in marriage to Marable Bryan in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.  She worked as a homemaker.  She was a member of the First Christian Church in Moline and an over 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star, Ladonia Chapter.

Virginia is survived by her husband, Marable of Moline, Kansas; one son, Steven Bryan and his wife, Lyneva of Herington, Kansas; two daughters, Pamela Bryan of LeRoy, Kansas and Peggy Weaver and her husband, Glennis of Moline, Kansas; one sister, Mary Harper of Moline, Kansas; and three grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Floyd Ferry; and her sister, Laura Van Royen.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 17, 2011 at the Countryside-Zimmerman Funeral Home, 206 E. Washington, Howard, Kansas with Pastor Gary Boles officiating.  Friends may stop by and sign the register book until 6:00 p.m. on Friday, December 16, 2011.  Interment will be at Moline Cemetery.  Family suggests contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association and may be left with the funeral home.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.countrysidefh.com.  Arrangements are under the direction of Countryside-Zimmerman Funeral Home in Howard, Kansas.

My condolences to Virginia's family.  May she rest in peace.  I will always remember her for making the best popcorn balls in the world.  Her home was the favorite place in town on Halloween night.
