From the editor of the Howard County Ledger (Elk Falls), February 25, 1875:

"The [Progressive] Communist is a little late this month, but we think it is better in its editorial and mechanical get up than was the January number. Those who desire to post themselves in regard to the principles of communism cannot do better than read this paper. Enclose 50 cents and address the 'Progressive Communist,' Cedarvale, Howard county, Kansas, and you will receive the paper twelve months."

Mr. Gray,

Thanks for the reminder.  Did this rag have a pretty good circulation in this part of the country? Some of the subscribers must have learned well, believed, and may have passed a few Manifest principles down the line to their descendants.  The expropriation of landed property and the use of rent from land to cover state expenditure (currently property taxation), the public education of all children, the unification of education with economic production, and the gradual abolition of the differences between town and country seem to be thriving.... and expanding.

Conservative to the Core!
Gun control means never having to fire twice.
Social engineering, left OR right usually ends in a train wreck.

Looks like their communist operation near CV fell apart in 1879.  Later on, one of 'em was involved in the Russian Revolution in 1917.
