More on Hale, Kansas

The town of Hale, located in Salt Creek township, was named for the storekeeper, Alva Hale, whose store was approximately one half mile east of the present town site of Hale. Mr. Hale sold groceries, dry goods and supplies of various kinds, the store was also the post office with Mr. Hale as post master.

The post-office of Hale was established May 18, 1882. The town later had other stores, a blacksmith shop, livery stable, hotel, depot and stockyard, as it was located on the Missouri Pacific Railroad. The post-office of Hale was discontinued June 29, 1907.
