James Marshall Woodrum, age 94, of Longton, Kansas, passed away Monday, November 1, 2010 at Mercy Hospital in Independence, Kansas.  Mr. Woodrum was born January 6, 1916 in a log cabin in Oakford, Illinois, the son of Thomas Jefferson Woodrum and Mary Ann (Tremain) Woodrum.

Mr. Woodrum attended Springfield, Illinois schools.  He was an Army veteran of WWI, and had previously lived in Colorado Springs, Colorado before moving to Longton in 2005.  Mr. Woodrum had been employed as a machine shop foreman at Peterson Field Air Force Base in Colorado Springs, Colorado before retiring after 20 years of civil service.

He is survived by his daughters, Jeanette (Jan) Kahl, Nancy Kozitza Woodrum, and Rosemary McElroy, all of Longton, Kansas; a son, James Wilson of Colorado Springs, Colorado and San Carlos, Sonora, Mexico; his 103 year-old-sister, Alice Switzer, of Pekin, Illinois; along with 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.  

Cremation is planned.  A memorial service will be held Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at Pleasant Valley Manor, 613 E. Elm, Sedan, Kansas at 2:00 p.m.  An additional memorial service and inurnment will be held in Colorado Springs, Colorado at a date to be decided.  Memorial remembrances may be sent in care of Penwell-Gabel Webb & Rodrick Chapel, 306 W. Main, Independence, Kansas 67301, which is in charge of arrangements.
