Jack R. Joy, 71, a resident of Benedict, Kansas, died early Sunday morning, June 27, 2010 at his home in Benedict.  He was born May 10, 1939 in Howard, Kansas, the son of Ray Laverne and Cleo Katherine (Waymire) Joy.

Jack was a retired brick mason and millwright, working many years for Evergreen Construction.  His favorite pastime was fishing with family and friends. 

Jack is survived by his wife Kathy (Coats) Joy of Benedict, Kansas; three children, Leland Ray Joy of Decatur, Illinois, Kathy (Katie) Sander of Elsmore, Kansas, and Brandon Coats of Fredonia, Kansas; one brother, Leon Joy of Benedict, Kansas; nine grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; one sister; and his son, Travis Ray Joy in 2001.

Cremation has taken place, and memorial graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 2, 2010 at the Weakley Cemetery near New Albany, Kansas.  A memorial has been established in Jack's name with Hope Unlimited and may be sent to the funeral home.  Words of condolence for the family may be left at www.timmonsfuneralhome.com.  Timmons Funeral Home, P.O.
