I received my Urban Survival Newletter today from David Morris who has   www.SurviveInPlace.com.  He states that he can no longer advertise with Google..here is his quote    "That's because I am one of thousands of sites that Google has decided to censor this year due to conflicting worldviews.  Specifically, they've been targeting sites that promote 2nd ammendment issues, natural health, and the true state of the economy.  In short, I was given the choice by Google to change my message to match their beliefs or be banned from advertising with them.)"

Just an FYI for everyone.  I took the Google Task Bar off my computer and when the pop up window asked me why, I just told them that it had come to my attention that they were discriminating against sites that promoted our Second Amendment rights and left it at that.  Whether you wish to act on it or not you might enjoy reading David's Newsletters at the above site.  I have also taken the class, it was very helpful.

If you think its bad now, Roma, just wait until the FCC takes over.
It is high time we eased the drought suffered by the Tree of Liberty. Let us not stand and suffer the bonds of tyranny, nor ignorance, laziness, cowardice. It is better that we die in our cause then to say that we took counsel among these.

Roma, I looked at the link you posted in your first post.  Frankly, to me, it sounds like a gimmic.  There are numerous websites that offer that type of info. for free. The trick is figuring out what will work best for you and your family.  And then once a plan is established, practice, practice, practice, and then practice some more.  Until each member of the family is capable of following the plan by themselves.

If one has the time they can certainly find anything for free.  I felt the course was well put together and worth the money for its organization and for people who live in cities and have no background in this.  I continue to get the newsletters and feel good about the program.  Not a gimmic, just a choice.

Roma, just out of curiosity, this course you took, did you find any places that contradicted your recent CERT training?

Roma Jean Turner

I don't recall noticing any contradiction.  Of course the CERT is about volunteering to be a part of a group in different situations and the course is about taking steps to provide for yourself &/or family during various types of emergencies or situations.  It gave me a lot of ideas to think about, being a single woman who has to be responsible for herself and her property, pretty much by herself.

Good. The only reason I asked was because in some places, not right here thank goodness, there have been some groups that have disregarded our triage system for sorting patients and sorting injuries, and have demanded that their family be handled NOW, even if others were much more injured.  (In mass casualty incidents things have to change. A broken wrist is going to have to wait awhile.)    Two nasty train wrecks south of here come to mind. In one case the ambulance crews had gone down the tracks to do their jobs and returned to find the ambulances had been broken into and stripped of supplies. Another ambulance that had unfortunately been left unlocked was full of people with minor injuries who had loaded themselves and refused to get off to defer to the more seriously injured. Not a nice situation. A couple of stories I heard, about 3rd hand, were even worse. I'm sure I shouldn't be such a skeptic, but there are people who will refuse to cooperate with existing systems and can cause preplans to break down until nothing gets done for anyone.

Our CERT training was very explicit about how to handle these things.  The sad truth is some kinds of injuries are not going to make it and part of the training was being able to make those judgements as best one can and triage accordingly.  You know what I mean.  The other course talked about things to have to help ones self and family and suggested getting more training and gave some links to look into that, but never suggested interfering with other rescue efforts.  The premise of the course is that you can't count on having other help available and need to be prepared to help yourself , your family and trusted neighbors.  In fact that course highly recommended that we take the CERT Course and take advantage of any other free courses that our communities had to offer.  I am going to look into the local Red Cross courses.
