John Bunyard, 69, of Leon, Kansas, Parklane Terrace Apartments doorman, race horse groomer and trainer, and auto mechanic, passed away Friday, April 30, 2010.  John was born August 10, 1940 in Fall River, Kansas to George C. and Julia Edna (Smith) Bunyard

Survivors include a brother, Edward R. "Cap" Bunyard (Gwendolyn) of Rose Hill, Kansas; nephews, Larry Holderman of El Dorado, Kansas, Vernon Vanderpool Jr. (Kim) of Leon, Kansas, Leon Richard Burris (Delores) of Wichita, Kansas, Ivyl Burris of Wichita, Kansas, Gary Bunyard (Donna) of Rose Hill, Kansas, and George Bunyard (Melissa); nieces, Rebecca Rierson of Rose Hill, Kansas and Julia Burris of Wichita, Kansas; and great and great-great nieces and nephews and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Lodena Holderman, Wilmettia Burris, and Pearl Vanderpool; and nephews, Rex, Jerry, Dennis, and Gerald.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, May 3, 2010 and service will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2010, both at Headley Funeral Chapel, 813 State Street, Augusta, Kansas 67010.   Burial will be held at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Fall River, Kansas.  Memorials are suggested to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Wichita, Kansas.
